I'm using two Mitsubishi VCR's, an HSU82 and an HSU790. They each have an A and a B remote control capability. The first listed code on p. 47 works for the A position, but neither of the other two codes works for the B position. Code searching doesn't turn anything up either. Any chance of a software upgrade for the remote?

You typically need a learning remote or a PC-programmable remote (which can set these flags/bits) for dealing with multiples of the same unit. Is the 990's remote learning capable? Edit: Is this remote a jp1 remote? It seems as though it comes from the OFA folks. All sorts of capabilities with it if I'm correct.

Or the original Mits remote, obviously, but you're trying to get away from that.

Thanks Spiky,

No. The 990's remote is not a learning one. I'm looking to get either a Universal MX-500 or MX-600. I don't need the RF capabilities of the 600 now, but will get that one, unless I can buy a RF repeater later that will work with a 500 it I get that one now.

The Catalyst48 remote that the 990 uses does have some JP1-style jumpers under the battery cover, I believe, but I don't know what sort of possibilities might exist for JP1 programming.

The MX-500 is an excellent remote. And for $85 (the price from at least one or two reputable online dealers, including bluedo.com - where I bought mine a couple years ago) it is a great value.

Thanks Gonk,

I decided to bite the bullet and just ordered the MX-600 from Buy.com for $126.99 total. I'll just put the RC unit aside until I need it.
