I received my 990 today, made all the proper connections, then ran the auto setup. Well, it would not recognize the sub. I have 2 NHT 10" subs powered by an external amp. When I calibrate using the test tones, I can't turn down the channel level low enough to match the other channels. The amp does not have a volume control. Any suggestions? Or should I even be using the test tones for calibration of the sub? Thanks, Kevin Brees

The subwoofer test tone is full range, which may be giving you some trouble. Do you have a test disc such as Video Essentials of AVIA? If so, you could use the test tones on that disc.

Definitely take Gonk's advice on this one. When I ran the test tones on my passive sub system (using and Adcom GFA-5500 to power), the amp clipping light stayed on the entire time the test tone was playing. I used the AVIA test disk along with a Radio Shack analog sound pressure meter, and found manual calibration very easy to do. It is also more accurate than the auto setup.

First time user. New 990, love it except I can't get the subwoofer(s) to work. I have Def Tech 7002s in the front, an older JBL in the rear. I have been working with Steve at support for help, have done everything he has suggested and get nothing. Even tried a Digital Video Essentials disk - output on all channels beautifully except subwoofer. No LFE at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated since the help desk is closed until Tuesday the 5th. Thanks.

Gonk,
Thanks for the info on the sub tone being full range. I used the test tone from VE and it worked well. Good to know there more than one Outlaw owner in the Memphis area.
