I just hooked-up my new 1050 and everything is working great with one exception...I have no audio directly from my VCR to my TV. I would the ability to occasionally use the VCR without turning on the 1050. (Why would I want this? I have a <2 yr old who watches alot of videos, and when grandma is babysitting, we don't want her pushing extra buttons.)
Since I am using component video for the DVD, I decided to by-pass the 1050 for video from the VCR as well. I did connect the audio-out from the VCR to the 1050 and this works fine. When the 1050 is off, shouldn't the VCR audio be passed to the TV through the coax which connects the two? If not, I'm thinking that possible solutions would be to put a y-connector on the audio out jacks of the VCR and route the audio to both the TV and the 1050, or disconnect the VCR audio in from the 1050, connect it to the audio in of the TV. I think this second option would allow me to still use the 1050 for VCR audio by selecting the TV audio in source on the 1050.
Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The RF coax output (the "cable TV") will carry audio and video. You should be able to connect that to the coax antenna input on your TV and use the TV's speakers for sound from the VCR. I'd avoid a splitter in the audio if I could.

One possible oversight may be your tv speaker. Is it set to off? If not off, is the volume minimized? I know I have my set with the speakers set to off and the output fixed so my 1050 does all the work. Just a little thing to check. Seems simple enough, but the simple things are what often get overlooked.
