Curtco's Digital TV and Sound, Summer 2005 issue, on stands now has a great review of the Model 990.
In it, Brent Butterworth had this to say:
"Although the Model 990 seems too good to be true, it's not. Really, it's too true to be good-for Outlaw's competitors, that is."

Cool! While waiting for my invite, I'll have to try and get a copy.

Yeah, gonk, but that's still a two week wait to an invite (but an intervening pay day so that's good).
I've gone from indifferent to anxious very fast. :-)
I suppose I can start looking around for XLR connectors and some nice cable. (Some of my runs will justify the use of a balanced interconnect.)

I stand happily corrected!
I added myself to the waitlist 06/21 and received an invite 06/23. I guess the queue for the current batch is getting small (I dunno if that's a good thing, or a bad thing).
Naturally, I ordered... and added the t-shirt and cap to boot. (I figure Outlaw could use some free advertising)... and sprung for overnight shipping.
/me waits.
/me waits (and taps a foot).
/me waits.
Did I say that /me waits. :-)
The death of my current preamp leaves me without audio of any sort (except the TV speakers). Well, I suppose I could route the variable line out of my Sony HDTV to my Stratos Plus amp, and thence my speakers, but that just seams a cruel thing to do to a Stratos amp and B&G speakers.

Maybe, if someone has a copy of the review they could post it for all to read? I don't care for the mag, but would be interested in Brent's review. He has been around for quite some time as an audio equipment reviewer, and is highly regarded. Unlike some of the other so called reviewers out there that are taking $ in one hand, and writing a review with the other.
