I'm trying to interface my 990 with my Xantech system. It does not work via the Ir ports on the back of the 990. It does work with an IR emitter on the front of the unit. The same setup worked with my 950 before I pulled it out of the rack. The manual does not indicate that I should need to do anything out of the ordinary to make this work.

Has anyone else gotten this to work or experienced the same problem I am? The manual only seems to say that it works with Xantech and Niles.

I should add that I am using the Xantech 795-20 connecting block and have tried both a 2 conductor and a 3 conductor cable. Neither works.

I had a similar quandary when I was setting mine up. Both my HD cable box and the 990 refused to work with my very basic Xantech IR setup, and while I never dug into why the HD box didn't work I did ask Outlaw about the 990. Scott looked into it and reported that the 990's IR input requires an interface module, specifically (for Xantech) the 794-10 interface module. Hope that helps.

A quick follow-up if anyone is listening or interested. I've purchased and installed a Xantech 794-10 and it works like a champ.

I set the dip switches for Sherwood, as the Xantech documentation does not list Outlaw.

grrrr... why'd they have to go and muck with this? My 950 worked fine with my Xantech amplified connection box? I guess I have to get this 794-10 now.

Yeah, it threw me for a loop, too, but I suspect it is due to the P-965 chassis that they started with.
