Has anyone else encountered the following?? It is a 990/computer issue, and I am curious if there is a way to reslove it.

When the 990 USB connection is made to my Dell Computer, a USB Audio Device is added to the Sound, Video & Game Controllers section of the computer's device manager.

Unless the USB cable is unplugged, OR unless the USB Audio Device is disabled, there is an obvious conflict with my ATI sound card. Spent several hours trying to resolve the conflict, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do so.

Questions are:

Does one need the USB Audio Device for the computer to communicate via USB with the 990 for firmware updates, and/or computer sound output from the 990??

Interested in what others have encountered....

CI:

It appears that when the USB connection is used for future updates, the audio path is not invovled at all, since you have to change the position for the OPR/SVC switch on the rear panel. Thus, no USB audio device required for that.
