Ok, when you do the auto set up, what volume do you use for the test? I couldn't find anything in the manual. Does it just override whatever level you have set?

I'm assuming yes, as it notes 'WARNING: THE TEST TONE IS LOUD' wink

Yeah, I believe the auto setup operates purely on its own. You could conduct a test if you were really curious, though. Set the volume to around -60dB and start auto-setup - I expect that you'll still get the same appropriately loud test tones during auto-setup, whereas the manual channel calibration test tones would be very faint.

Thanks guys, I will let you know. It will probably override whatever the volume is set at the time.

For what it is worth, mine seemed to override the volume that it was at (-40) and it was loud so....I think that the auto is indeed on its own, and has a 'preset" volume level for the test.

One of the things that calibration (auto or manual) attempts to do is find reference level for your system. That means zero dB on the volume knob should equal 85 dB at your listening position, no matter what combination of speakers, amplification, room gain, etc, that you have.

As such, it has to override your current volume setting each and every time you calibrate. Keep in mind that things such as Loudness Compensation are set based on where reference level is.
