Since I haven't got one, I'm hoping enough people decline the purchase agreement, so in 10 days (I think that was going to be the length of time they give you to either accept or decline) maybe they'll send me one, too.

Did my e-mail drop off the list? Probably not, more likely due to the fact that I didn’t get my name on the reservation list until after midnight, 3 hours after it opened!!

Oddly enough, I just received a confirmation email.

I hope the dozen times I re-tried didn't somehow re-enter the order each time!

My system shows that I received my 990 order confirmation at 6:29 pm today. I processed the order form this evening and had no problems at all submitting it. When I looked back at the waiting list confirmation and the order receipt I noticed that the time on both of them is 9:02 pm. Total coincidence but strange nonetheless. Maybe I should play 902 or 990902 on the lottery? .... or perhaps break out the Ouija board :rolleyes:

I did not put in for a reservation until Monday came along. Here is to hoping I will get an email tomorrow. Has anyone else got one who possibly confirmed much later Sunday night?

I received my reservation confirmation email today.

I believe I put in my reservation request about 8 minutes after the hour that night when the reservations first opened up.

No more watching from the outside. I can't wait to get the 990/755. Need to schedule some days off.

just dropped in as I have for the last couple of weeks for a update of the 990. Happy to see that most were receiving confimation emails. Checked my emails and found I could order also. Took care of that in only a minute. I can now post that I am a happy camper, now only if I can stand the wait.

I got onto the wait list three minutes after it opened. Shortly after placing the order this afternoon the order confirmation was received 5:21 p.m. PDT.

My hotmail report shows received at 2228.53.0040 UTC May 8th, which would convert to 1828 EDT/1728CDT etc.

Received invitation to order, thoughtfully considered it for about 1/2 a second, then whipped my credit card out faster than Josey Wales. After reading and drooling over Outlaw gear for the last two years, I'll finally be making the transition from "dreamthusiast" to official Outlaw. And I'm taking the plunge too. I ordered the 990, the 7100, the LFM 1 and all the necessary interconnects to make everything sing! Looking forward to the upgrade from my 12+ yr old Sony (ugh!) receiver. I anticipate being blown away!

I still have not received an email to order yet, and I was on the waiting list about 1 hour and 40 mins after it opened.... SO.... we shall see....patience...

Way to go yankeedan....I hope that you are not disappointed..(I am sure that outlaw will blow you away...)

I have not recieved notification, and if we are talking 10 days to wait for people to decide before flipping to the next person, we could be waiting a month to find out. Plus delayed shipping, 2 weeks delivery, yada, yada..

Keep your shorts on. Are you sure that the Outlaws are saying that they will wait ten days before sending out more confirmation messages, or simply that those who are get a message have ten days? I'd guess that they are probably sending these things out in some sort of batch system, and that there is no connection between the number of people who convert the reservation to an order and when more letters go out. I guess we'll see.

What is the "delayed shipping and 2 weeks delivery" you are talking about? Where did you hear that? I'll bet that the first orders probably ship out within ten days. Again, let's wait and see before jumping to unfounded conclusions.

XYFLA, I signed up on the waitlist at 10:00pm est time, 1 hour after it opened. I have not received
an invitation to order. I am hoping Iggy is correct and they are releasing the invitation to order in batches.

I am sure at some point the folks at outlaw will let us know when the first shippment is sold out. Until then there is still hope of getting one.

Anyway I am trying to wait patiently knowing that it will be worth the wait.

I'd say outlaw has to be doing orders in Batches, but that the size of the Batches will be commusrate with the number of unit they have to sell. So batch 1 = # of units available in shipment 1.

I suppose Outlaw might have tried to anticipate "no orders" and "over subscribed" the initial batch of invites, but that strategy just seems likley to just get customers mad (just like it does at airports)

It would probably be smarter to wait ten days and send out another batch invite for the "unsold" units and any units anticipated to arrive within that timeframe (the Outlaws say the second batch is on the water). My invite specifically told me to do nothing if I wasn't going to purchase (Sorry folks who are still waiting, I went ahead and bit the bullet, so mine won't be on that unsold list) which implies the Outlaws are going to wait ten days before sending anymore invites..

I agree. might I also add that It takes time to do this sort of thing. I am sure as well, that they are probably trying to not overload there server with orders, or the people responsible for processing them. I received my reservation confirmation email @ 9:50 P.M. EST, and haven't received the invite to place an official order as of yet, but I am confident that I will eventually.

Remember yesterday afternoon's reports of trouble processing orders? Clearly, a lot of us went directly from our mail client to our web browser and started hammering on their web server. It's entirely possible that Outlaw is trying to spread out the invitations to place orders so that they don't have too great a surge of traffic at once. In that case, the "now available" e-mails for the first shipment's stock would end up going out in smaller, controlled batches over the course of several days. We'll have to see if another batch drops tonight.

I'm not 100% sure, but I got my waitlist confirmation about 9:50 EST April 17th, within the 1st hour. I have not received an order invitation.

I put my order in this morning. The latest email from Outlaw indicating the "990 is now available" said

"We will not charge your credit card until 24 hours before the order actually ships."

I've been watching my credit card account today and the charges have been posted. So that should mean the 990/755 is shipping tomorrow. I could receive them by Saturday. I'm ready. I've been ready for about 2 years.

I'm looking forward to posting my experience with the equipment.

One thing to note, even though I may be the only one who experienced this: Even though I did receive a confirmation email while I was having all of those problems with the web site last night, an email from Outlaw indicated my order did NOT in fact go through, so I had to place it again today.

You should receive two emails from them upon successful completion of the order (one from orders@outlawaudio.com and one from orderdesk@outlawaudio.com). I only had received the orderdesk email last night.

Unfortunately I've got a few other expenses at the moment which precluded me from purchasing a 770 to go along with the 990. The combo pricing was pretty good (looked like a $200 discount). Does anyone know if they offer that discount after the fact? I bought a 950 and now a 990, but have never applied any "family discount" to the purchases. I'll probably be ready for a new amp when my room construction is completed in a couple months...

Just checked my bank and it looks like the transaction has posted. I've never been so excited to see three grand disappear from my bank account! What a bummer it will be if the components come in staggered shipments, though. Here's hoping I won't have to stare at either the 7100 or the 990 for a day or two while waiting for the balance of the shipment to arrive!

I received my "Your 990 is now available!" e-mail at 3:31 PM May 8. I'm trying to decide whether or not to accept. I was all set, and then during the waiting period I got a good deal on a big prime lens for my Nikon D70. Now I have to decide whether or not to put the 990 on plastic, or just wait until later this year, after reading the reviews from all who accept now. My only real complaint with my 950 is the 3 second or so audio sync delay when changing sources or sound formats. Otherwise it does everything that I need at this time. (Notice that I didn't say everything that I want.)

I'll try to make up my mind within the next couple of days while I'm traveling for training. I don't want to keep anybody waiting who may be next in line if I cancel out. I need a higher paying job to afford all the toys that I want.

Well, I will of course encourage you to buy that nice lens. You'll be able to get a 990 for quite a long time at the same price, I would assume.
This has nothing to do with the fact that I didn't sign up on the waiting list until a couple weeks after it was announced and am hoping lots of people decide to put it off....
Actually, I was struggling with deciding whether to get a nice DSLR system myself, or upgrade my HT myself. I came very very close to pulling the trigger on the Cannon EOS20D and a few lens. But, I've never been able to listen to my DVD's and Sat programs in 5.1 as my gear is circa 1995. Knowing how much I like to lay on my hind side and watch the boob tube, I decided I'd get more enjoyment out of updating my HT for now. I've waited 10 years, hopefully I won't have to wait beyond their second "slow boat from Korea" to get my 990.

As you may know, companies building a product like this cannot commit to building 10,000 units at once, they would drive themselves out of business before they got started. Also, since they have to be shipped by boat, which takes a month or more, they have to project sales and stage the delivery of the units from the factory. There are 2 sizes of shipping containers, which will probably hold 300 and 600 units repectively.

That means that on the first boat, only 300 to 600 people will get a 990. The rest will have to wait for the next boat to arrive and be inspected, and delivered. Hence the list of people that got an email.

Many people got rejected even a few hours after the reservation "lottery" opened. Which means the volume had to have been pretty high.

Outlaw would have error on the safe side not mass produce incase the unit got a bad rap in the media and sales did not pan out.

My conjecture on the shipping was based on the following:

- Next boat has not arrived yet
- It takes time to process a container and deliver its contents
- It takes time to process order in Outlaw
- It takes 2 weeks to deliver to my address (I purchased Outlaw products in the past, so I know the delievery schedule to my location)

The only possibility is that enough individuals back out of the deal to get to 6:00am the next day in the reservation lotto for people that put in the same time as I did to be up to bat.

Since Outlaw has stated that general delivery will not be until June, that obviously has something to do with ships arriving. If that is the second shipment, we will see nothing till then.

My reservation time was 915EDT, and I have not received an available notice. You may have a longer wait than you expect to get to the 6am time stamp..

I already bought the lens with my 990 money. Now I'm trying to figure out if I should go in debt and get the 990 too. I'll have to purchase a new rack and completely redo my layout to get the 990 to fit. From what I've read in the other forums, it is a honkin' big beast.

As for purchasing the dSLR, if you do you will have a hard time using a point-and-shoot again in the future. I bought a Nikon D70 almost a year ago and have loved it. I played with a Canon 20D recently and it is a wonderful camera too. A Nikon rep told me that they are soon to release a couple of new models in addition to the D50 and D70s that they've just announced. One of which will be in the same price range as the Canon 20D.

Perhaps, but as you said, it is all conjecture. What none of us really know is how many people have reservered (presume a fair number), how many of the notification emails went out, how many units are here and one the way, and how the Outlaws are staging all of this.

At the end of the day, there are too many things that are in the "we'll see" department. Based on the way things have happened around here before, I would guess that it will be much sooner than two weeks before the next batch of notifications goes out, but that is also only conjecture on my part. Time will tell.

Thanks a bunch. That's how I get into these situations, no self-control and nobody to reign me in either. And now you're just encouraging me. Before checking back in I'd pretty much decided to pass on a 990 at this time, but it hurts to pass up a new toy when it's within touching distance. I really do like the sound of my 950/770 combo and I don't really feel like redoing the whole system again, after moving everything and buying a new stand about 2 weeks before they announced that the 990 was coming.

Just received my tracking number! The 990's have left the building. this is a good day!

I am excited. Just finished ordering my 990. I received my iniviation to order today, May 12, at 12.25 est. The order was place with minutes after receiving the inivitation. The order confirmation e-mail states the 900 will be shipped with in 5 working days. I entered the wait list at 7:00 est on April 17, one hour after opening.

Since I was not in the first group of invites, I believe that the order process is being batched.

Just got my tracking # too. I ordered it Monday around 5:30PM Central time.

I ordered Monday around noon PST and I still have not received a tracking #. Hopefully it will be soon since the 5 day maximum is getting close.

I got my tracking this morning (8:00 or so Mountain) and it shipped at 5:00 pm yesterday.
I ordered at around 10:30 Mountain on Monday.

I am sure its going to get you soon Jed. And the good news is that its probably already been shipped. And apparently the Outlaws paid for Saturday delivery, so there is still hope for you on the West coast.

Thanks Cerebus. Actually, I am glad I posted because it looks like Outlaw sent my notification to my old email address. I gave Scott my new one a couple months ago so I didn't even think to check my old email address (aol, ugh!). It was probably my fault since I have not changed my profile here. I just would like to give a public thanks to Steve for pointing me in the right direction.

Also, for west coast people, they ship from Los Angeles so don't feel the need to order overnight shipping if you live in Cali or surrounding states. Looks like the 990 will be here tomorrow!
