So for my next question. I was able to add a rear speaker for use with my 1050. The thing I will not be able to do support two rear speakers for a true 7.1 setup. Will I be able to configure or setup the 990 for only one rear speaker?

I noticed in the ICBM manual that for 7.1 setups they used a Y cable to combine the outputs. That seems a little iffy to me but could the two rear surround channels be Y'ed together into one amp channel for the rear surround.

I know this is not the place for this question, but has anyone ever had the problem with the 1050 with no output at all when in the Dolby Pro Logic mode and the rear center channel is enabled? I looked for this problem in the 1050 forum, but I did not find anything.

Yes, the Model 990 can be used with 6.1 or 7.1 speaker systems.

I don't know yet how the 990 works, but the 950 allowed to you select a single surround back (in which case you connected the left back) or dual surround backs - a feature that I used for over two years, as I operated a 6.1 setup for a long time.

The ICBM is a somewhat different beast. It was developed when there was only one processing format that supported stereo surround back channels (Logic7, which was then still restricted to Lexicon gear, although it is now also available on some HK equipment). Today there are two such formats, since Pro Logic IIx can do discrete surround back speakers. Dolby EX, DTS ES, and software like the 1050's 6.1 Surround and the 950's Cirrus Extra Surround all generate a single mono surround back signal, which is often split to feed two speakers - for those formats, the ICBM's single surround back input and output loses you nothing.

As for the Model 1050 question, are you experiencing no output from the rear center speaker, or from any speakers? The Model 1050's 6.1 Surround mode only works with Dolby 5.1 signals and the six channel analog input - it can not be applied to stereo signals processed with Dolby Pro Logic - so you should not be getting anything from the rear center speaker when using Pro Logic.

I do not get any sound from any of the speakers at all. I can have the rear channel on, and watch HBO with a 5.1 movie. When the movie is over the 1050 display switches to Dolby Pro Logic and there is no sound at all. I have to go in an turn off the center speaker to get sound again.

I have never had that problem and I've been using my 1050 in a 6.1 setup for 3 years or so. I don't have any problem with detecting the satellite feeds 5.1 signals and switching formats as it's present or absent. If nobody provides any insight, give Outlaw a ring and see what they say.
