I thought maybe we could get a "who am I" thread started... I haven't seen one & find them helpful @ times (to see where everyone is coming from).

Me first...

I'm Robert Meredith (27, married, 1 dog) - currently living in Parker, Colorado. I'm from Pennsylvania originally but moved out west so my wife could go to grad school. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student (started at Penn State, currently at University of Colorado) - but a working professional also. I'm a Network Engineer during the day - kind of a jack of all trades @ work. My wife of 6 years is a mental health evaluator for the state. She's taking the pre-reqs necessary to apply to medical school. I enjoy hunting, training my dog, computers, cars, and love home electronics.

I'm a budding audiophile - love this stuff. As soon as I get my hands on a 1070 - my setup will be:

TV: Mits 52" DLP
Receiver: Outlaw 1070
Speakers: NHT VT-1.4 fronts, VS-1.4 surrounds, SC1 center, and SW10 sub
DVD: Denon 2910
Sat: Hughes HD DirecTiVo
Antenna: Winegard SS-2000 (SquareShooter Amplified)
MP3: OmniFi DMS1 Digital Media Streamer
Power: Monster HTS3600 Power Center
Cabling: Bluejeans, Monster, BetterCables

There ya have it - next?

-robert

People call me "Mister Ed", or "Big Ed"!

I live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I am a 40 year old married father of two. My Son is 10, and my daughter will turn 6 in Dec.

My wife has been a "Domestic Engineer" since mid-1998, leaving the proffessional arena(Accounting) just prior to the birth of our daughter. She is presently gearing up to start a 2-year nursing program in January.

I work a full and part time job just trying to keep our heads above water. I am a Product Designer by day, hence my screen name. I work part time as a sales specialist at the local Home Depot, helping customers purchase the correct doors and windows for their projects.

I like cars, movies, music, playing with my kids and home theater.

Next.........

Ah, a fellow mechanical engineer... I'm also an ME - graduated from Mississippi State University almost 8 years ago now with a BSME and got my PE license in Tennessee about 3.5 years ago. I do mainly commercial HVAC design (office buildings, schools, colleges and universities, chilled water plants, and whatever other projects the bosses toss my way) and of course hang out around here. I'm 30, married, with two cats, and we're expecting our first child in late February.

Hey Robert,

Since we are all giving background, I am a Loan Consultant in Irvine CA. My company operates in 28 different states so if anyone is purchasing a house or needs to refinance, send an e-mail (Yeah, I know a shameless plug). laugh

I hold a BS from Southern Illinois University in Mass Communications emphasizing in Television/Radio Broadcast and Advertising with a minor in Journalism. I'm 34 and married with two Children a Cat, Ferret and a Fish. I have been into A/V my whole life and have been the proud owner of a 950/7100 combo for over a year now. I used to swear by Adcom as my primary seperates for power and control, but that has now changed thanks to Outlaw.

I am "The Spatula"

Welcome to the Saloon Robert, pull up a stool and stay a while! laugh wink laugh

Hello. I'm Chris. I live in old one-room school house on the edge of Lancaster County, PA with my wife, our two cats, Carmen and Miranda, and our Old English Mastiff, Charisse (named for Cyd Charisse, the French dancer).
I bought a 1050 about three years ago, matched it with the AR HC6 speaker system, and have loved it ever since.
Due to our finances and the WAF in our house, this is about as much fun I can have right now, but I'm looking forward to getting a SVS product sometime, as well as a larger TV (we presently view a 27" Sony Trinitron).
We like all kinds of music and movies and we have a good amount of each, including all the Joss Whedon efforts on dvd available to date. We can't wait for the Firefly movie to come out.
I really value this forum as a refuge from the marketing machines and uber-biased opinions seen on other websites.
I'd like to thanks the Outlaws for providing this forum, which I have found invaluable. This is the first place I go when I have question about home electronics.
I'd also like to thank everyone who participates in this forum for their honest opinions and insights and helpful suggestions.

I’m Dave, originally from Pennsylvania, east of Pittsburgh, and now live in Maryland about 20 miles from Washington, DC.

I was introduced to the world of electronics, such as they were in the early 1960’s, by my father and grandfather. My father built DIY Hi-Fi equipment from Heathkit and my grandfather was an EE. With an aptitude for math and science, I started for a BS in EE at my grandfather’s alma mater, Carnegie-Mellon University. Feeling a need to be more involved with people in a creative way, I left the EE program and went into mass communication, but didn’t leave my technical abilities behind. I started professional A/V and television work in the mid 70’s in education support at a two year school and freelance work at a local television station. In the early 80’s I spent five years in the Middle East doing broadcast engineering and news/features production. In the late 80’s I returned to the US and worked in program and commercial editing. In the early 90’s I started my own business, specializing in custom video-wall programming and production, mostly used at trade shows and conventions, but also used for film, television, commercials, music videos, and large stage productions. In 2001 I began working for the US government in television news and information production for the Voice of America, which broadcasts in 40+ languages around the world.

Of three sons, one has graduated with a BS in Bio-Chemistry, one is deceased and one is struggling to find his way in life – I love them all dearly.

I enjoy the company of special people, nature, projects of an artistic or practical nature, including DIY electronics and home theater, sailing, scuba, soaring, photography and videography.

During a major industry trade show, I became interested in Velodyne subwoofers and Velodyne full-range loudspeakers. Because space was at a premium at home and often on the job, I ended up using a Sunfire Truesubwoofer before Velodyne had similar units, but still bought L/C/R Velodyne full-range speakers for their low distortion. Outlaw was not on the scene at the time, so an Onkyo THX Ampli-tuner was the center of my first HT system, which I enjoyed at home and occasionally used for clients. Among a few upgrades, I'm happy to say that Outlaw equipment is now the hub of my system, with a 950/ICBM/770 combo.

While I really enjoy the pursuit of audio purity on a budget, and I’m still an engineer/technician in my head, in my heart it’s the content that makes me laugh and soothes my soul.

Nice guys - keep it coming.

CB - I'm from Carlisle, PA - not too far from you. Actually, my wife graduated from Elizabethtown College - pretty close to your area...

A Saluki! My parents both went to SIU around 1970 - dad has a MFA from the there (his emphasis was in metals) and mom has a BA.
