I'm in the early research phase of an upgrade
to my audio system. I've read the glowing
reviews of the 750 and have noted equally
glowing reviews of the Newform Research R645
speakers. Can anyone comment on whether this would be a good match? Would my Carver
6200 be a satisfactory preamp? Any recommendations on a new preamp? Perhaps
also a CD player recommendation as well?

I'm not familiar with the sound of the NR speakers, but i'll tell you what I have that sounds very good. I have the DefTech BP2002 mains, CLR200, and BPX rears. An excellent value and the new models BP2002tl are even better. My preamp is a B&K Reference 30 which makes both music and movies sound great...but especially movies. I highly recommend this combo. but as always the only way to really be sure is to hear it for yourself in your own house! Good luck!
