As mentioned in our October Newsletter, we are conducting a contest in this space involving our forthcoming Model 200 product. The rules are as follows:
1) Between October 7, 2002 and November 7, 2002, we welcome you to guess what the Model 200 product is. You may enter by placing a message with your guess in this thread, or by sending us a postcard with your guess. 2) Decision of the Outlaws with regard to the answer is final. 3) No purchase is necessary to enter. 4) All correct entries will be entered in a drawing to be held at random by the Outlaws from which the winning entry will be drawn. The winner will receive a Model 200 once it begins shipment. 5) We cannot be responsible for entries sent via electronic or physical means that do not reach us for any reason. 6) All other correct entries will be eligible for a discount on the purchase of a Model 200. The amount of the discount will be announced at the conclusion of the contest so that the pricing information may not be used to influence the guesses. 7) The winner must be over 18 years old. Outlaw employees, vendors and their immediate families are not eligible.
We also know that there are some pranksters out there in the Outlaw community, so we will also give away a second Model 200 to the wrong entry that, in our sole opinion, is the most humorous.
Only one serious entry and one humor entry per person. Also, we will not accept entries with multiple guesses.
So much for the boilerplate stuff. Take your best guess at what YOU think this new product is, and who knows, you might end up owning one!
Best and Good Luck,
Scott

I'm thinking it's a 2 channel amplifier. This will make it more "economical" to go from 5.1 to 7.1.

Hmmm...it's EITHER a two-channel 100 watt amp OR a single 200 watt monoblock. I'll go with the monoblock, I guess.

I'm gonna guess that it's a CD player. Just because all of their amps so far have been named 7xx.

I'd say it's a revamping of the Model IR-1000 internet tuner but with built in support for MP3 streaming (wild guess)

I came up with several possibilities, but since we only get two guesses (one serious and one not), I'm going to guess that the Outlaw Model 200 is either a dedicated video switcher (serious guess) or a "trained monkey" universal remote (not-so-serious guess -- think of a primate that would sit next to your equipment rack with an armful of equipment remotes and obey spoken commands. It would allow for true universal equipment control, no need for backlighting due to voice interface, no more hassle with getting the remote aimed properly, limitless macros (teach your remote to change channel trim settings for different processing modes or to switch the mains to large when using stereo bypass mode), and it would require no batteries! Bananas not included...). ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

Since the 950 does not have a phono input, and many of us still treasure our vinyl, I would guess that the Model 200 would be a phono preamp stage to be used with 950 or other recievers not having a phono input.

I have narrowed my guesses down to 2. It's either a 2 channel amp for logical upgrading from 5.1 to 7.1 or a digital white noise generator so you never again have to wonder where that hiss is coming from.

Gonk got here before I did and stole my thunder. (If we're right anyway.)
Video switcher.
Or...It's an electro-shock device that the Outlaws wear to keep them from divulging anything about a new product before they should. They appear to be wearing them already. :-)

Serious guess > A 200 watt mono block.
The thing I really need guess> A device that sits on my wifes head and electronically alters her brain pattern into believing we need to spend HUGE amounts of money on AV gear. I'll even take one for my in-laws.

Serious Guess>CD Player ----------------------- It would be nice to own a Outlaw CD player especially for FREE. The model number doesn't seem to match any current line of products so it's gotta be something up a different ally.
Not-So-Serious>The Model 200 Hiss Hobby Kit ------------------------------------------- This kit will include the following 1) Electronic Tap Measure which measures out to 6 decimal places to allow you to identify the exact distance you need to have your ear from the speaker for any hiss to be detected. 2) Electronic Hearing Aid to help identify hiss that can't actually be heard by the human ear. 3) CD containing tracks of pre-recorded hiss in case pressing you ear to the speaker with the hearing aid in place doesn't allow you to hear any hiss.

It must be either a 2 channel amp or a pony.
Not sure which is serious and which isn't.

I am guessing a CD player. It seems like a logical step, although I do like the one or two channel amp idea. Either way, after this post I got the humor one in the bag.

Hmmm
If 10xx are receivers, 9xx are Pre/Pros, 7xx[x] are amplifiers, it seems like a new category.
My [meager] experience with marketing types would make me suspect the next ICBM would cash in on that models success and be ICBM2 or something.....
Either Outlaw is breaking their model naming system or something new is on the horizon.

Well since my other guesses are all taken and you have to be the first to say it, I'll take a wild stab that it'll be a receiver that is based on the 7100 amplifier and the 950 preamp.
for a not so serious guess... its a device that is worn on the body almost like the electronic dog collars; it sends an electric shock anytime someone thinks they hear hiss.
(Edit: Almost what kugumby said, but this one starts when the person hears the hissing)

Good one JHoff80. I think it's a dvd player. Not sure what's on it yet, probably some good stuff. I'd say with the value the 1050 had as a receiver when it came out.
It could also be an omnipoint player. It will accept any type of media. Has no interconnects because it is one device. Sound comes from one point, sound comes from every point. It plays the full range of sound, automatically equalizing itself for all frequencies and every location in the room. It can play up to just short of your eardrums bursting ,unless you hear a hiss in which case it will go until your head explodes.

Well, I hate to rain on Outlaw's little parade here, but I know what the Model 200 REALLY is. Last weekend I was snooping around the Outlaw's facilities, and I came across this engineering design drawing. It looks like it was from an earlier brainstorming session, but I would bet that most of the features are still there. It appears to be a tube-based personal stereo system. In fact, it appears that the 2xx family will be all portable "devices". I think the Outlaws have made a wise decision here, as there really aren't any high quality, audiophile grade portable stereos out there. I guess I would have preferred they went with a 300B tube instead of the 12AX7's, but such is life. Looks like they have spared no expense on this one - 4ga solid platinum headphone cord, hiss rejection circuitry, even a special body suit and boots. I guess they are even planning several accessories to go with the Model 200, including a portable reel-to-reel, portable laser disk player, and even a nuclear powered auxiliary power supply. Looks like they have their bases covered. I scanned in the engineering drawing so you would have proof: http://andreasen.8m.com/Outlaw200_bw.jpg If you want a higher resolution copy, please email me. You guys are wrong! It’s a Toilet Bowl with a built-in cd player, 200 watt amp and speakers that is integrated in one. It also has a built in 200 watt down-firing sub. Goggles sold separately. That should be fun huh?...I got it, right? If yes, then sign me up! On a serious note, I say it’s a Universal player that plays DVD-Video/DVD-Audio/SACD/CD so on and so forth.........this by the way can also be hooked to the Toilet Bowl i mentioned above through a Firewire interface (IEEE1394) also known as i.STINK© For real, my guess is that the Model 200 is a universal player. Well i hope so.

The 200...
I'm also sure that's another new product family, so lets try this:
Based on what the competition already has but Outlaw doesn't have so far...
It must be a 2 channels preamp.
Yes, a new 2 channels product line...

I'm going DVD player. It seems most makers start with a two hundred or two thousand designation for DVD players. Also, it is the logical product addition for Outlaw with their slant toward home theater products.
Otherwise, the model 200 will be a reference series BLACK POWER BUTTON for those willing to pay $200 for the perceived increase in performance. "Those with green power buttons just don't have the ears to tell the difference"

Edit: I re-read instructions and now know I can guess: A CD Player/@$200
Since my guess was already taken, I guess a tabletop radio/CD-player type component like the Bose Wave radio but 10,000 times better.
I hope it's a 2-channel amp ($200 for 100 X 2) or a nice CDP.
Not so serious guess: Outlaw Ghetto Blaster.

Since most of the good ideas are taken, I would hazard to guess that the Model 200 is a digital amplifier.
Or a popcorn machine. But not just any popcorn machine, a badass OUTLAW popcorn machine. Twenty-pound capacity with pure coconut oil, extra creamy butter, genuine salt, built-in soda dispenser (no wussy diet soda either), and an Outlaw family discount on angioplasty.
Just my guess. Gary C

I noticed in the Newsletter that the Outlaws said that the Model 200 "sounds great". Is that a little hint that it is not involved in video reproduction? I'll put my wager on a cd player I guess.

I guess it's 2 channel amp - 200W/channel - Outlaws will change the model number to 720 before they announce it's release!

I will guess a 2 channel amp, like many other people.
The CD player sounds good, but does not make much sense. The market is swamped with inexpensive CD players. They might make a really high end player, but then it would probably also be a SACD player, which is, at this point, not likely.
My other guess might be an ICBM with 2 sets of 5.1 (or 7.1) inputs. This is possible, and would be a great product, but with specs for a digital connector for DVD-A this might not be a product with a long shelf life.
So I will stick with a 2 channel amp.

I'm going to go with the first thing that popped in my head, which is the thing I most want to see from Outlaw: A 200w/channel 2 channel amp. I don't think the model # has anything to do with its price.
On the other hand, this new product that everyone is so excited about could actually be a devious plot. On the surface, it may seem like a harmless hand-held system calibration tool that measures frequency response, distortion, and spl amongst other things. But, it is actually preprogramed to give you a read-out that convinces you that your system cannot meet certian performance requirements unless you upgrade to Outlaw products. If you already own an Outlaw, it will tell you that you have to go to the next level up. (1050 owners MUST get a 950/770 combo! and so forth)
The outlaws are currently rubbing their hands together feverishly in anticipation of the riches that this unit will bestow on them once it is released to the unsuspecting public. Beware.........

I'll go with the 2 channel amp as well.
I hoped for a DVD player, but the news letter indicated that they (projector/DVD player) are on the "back burner".
A line conditioner would be nice as well.

It's a phono preamp. The only thing left to make the 950 and the 1050 totally compatible with all formats. Well, minus 8-track. My other guess is that it's an outboard DAC that downsamples all audio to lowest quality MP3 for posting on the internet. (That is supposed to be humorous ) Wow, 8-track and MP3 mentioned in one post...

Here are my guesses:
The Outlaw 200 will be a AC purifier and AC line voltage regulator, akin to the models from PS Audio and ExactPower.
Either that or the Outlaw 200 will be the start of something entirely new to the outlaw community...and I hazard to guess that the press release for it will look something like this:
While we at outlaw recognize that the largest segment of the electronics industry is the home theater segment. However very few speaker manufacturers truely try to focus keeping their producst "Wife friendly". Even "cute little cubes" can be a major design no-no, so the Outlaws have decided to adress this matter in the most creative way possible.
Outlaw audio is pleased to announce the Outlaw 200 speaker package. The Outlaw 200 will be the first fully functioning electrostatic speaker package designed to hide in plain sight as a group of family photos. This high WAF style package will include an 8 x 11 Inch center channel, two 8x11 inch main speakers, and four cute 4x5 inch surrounds. The true beauty to these speakers is that you can download your family photos to be screen printed DIRECTLY to the speaker grills when you purchase this wonderous speaker set. Just imagine, no huge boxes, no teeny cubes, just aunt edith and unkle earnie staring down at you with thier cold dead eyes as you enjoy the new and wonderous sound of shear outlaw bliss.
For those of you considering the special order Outlaw 200, we reccomend the following:
Left and right channels: the kids baby pictures Center Channel: your family reunion photo Left and Right Surrounds: The grand parents Rear surrounds: The faily pet, graduation pictures, or the inlaws that wrote you out of the will.
The Outlaw 200 is just the first of a whole new line of products in our Outlaw Home Entertainment Living Line (Or O-HELL as we call it around the office). This new and exciting line will also include the outlaw 300 line of subwoofers. The O-310-a friendly 12 inch end table/footrest. the O-315, a dual 15 inch sub desguised as a coffie table. And the O-Gasim an 18 inch sub built right into a lazy boy recliner...with the driver pointed straight up to your jumblies.
The Outlaw 310, 315, and 318 will be avialable in a rainbow of finishes to match your current decor. At an additional cost we can even match your living room furnature with our new outlaw color swatches.
...Just my guesses.
Jason

In the next big step in home theater, the Outlaw 200 is actually a troop of 200 actors assembled by Outlaw Audio. Upon order, the Outlaw 200 will come to your house and act out, live and in person, the script for any film you choose. Naturally, an orchestra is included to provide the necessary musical accompaniment
The Outlaw 200 is not available for purchase, only for rent. Food and lodging not included.
Should you choose a film such as the Matrix, Outlaw Audio is not responsible for incidental damage to home, belongings, furniture, small animals or house plants. Renting the Outlaw 200 for X-rated films, of course, may cost extra.
Void where prohibited. Your mileage may vary. Please see contract for details.

Well, you're all wrong. The Model 200 is a a device that you can attach to you lazy Boy or other devices, which will duplicate all of the LFE that those sub woofers can't. The Model 200 reacts to an audio signal sent by an amplifier, similar to a loudspeaker, but instead of moving a cone, and transferring sound waves through the air it sends low frequency sound directly into the listener's body and selling more amps in the process.
This is the humorus guess.

My guess is that it is a personal internet radio player/recorder. Audiophile grade of course. Plays MP3s, WMAs, etc. It uses compact flash/smartmedia cards. It most likely has a green button for PLAY. 200 = stereo, x00 = portable/personal

I'll take any model you got for $2.00 bucks. $2.00 can not even buy you $1.00 buck these days. Great value, but if I had a choice it would be Cindy Crawford. She is my favorite $2.00 model.
I hope it is not a freakin 2 channel amp. The cd player is a good guess. Especially since NADS was rated the best in WhatHiFi magazine. You know it is not a record player, tape player, DLP projector, or DVD player. So if it was an amp as already mentioned it would have been named the 720. I say lets go with a Outlaw 200 speaker.

I think a wise move for Outlaw would be speakers. The design and development cost should be relatively low. By comparison, they are simple devices, so hiss and QC problems would be minimal, something I think Outlaw would love right now. With Outlaw's "ties" to Atlantic Technology, I would imagine it wouldn't be too tough to come up with a great priced and sounding system. Speakers potentially have a huge markup, so I would think that Outlaw could offer some awesome speakers with a price tag WAY below what you would expect to pay from a showroom. I'm not positive about this, but I thought I heard somewhere that Atlantic had Joe D'appolito do some design work for them, which is probably a brilliant idea, as he's one of the better designers out there. I think Outlaw would be wise to follow that lead.
Unfortunately, I don't think that the Model 200 will be speakers. I would guess that speakers would be Model 210, 215, 220, etc. to make a complete package.

Outlaw 200 ... How about a NASCAR electric race set? I can hear the Saturday morning commercial now "Pull the bright green trigger and watch the 755 pass the 750...but wait, the huge 770 has pushed them off the track. And this Saturday on Fox, watch the real Outlaw 200 race where a UPS truck will be the pace vehicle..."

My guess is that it's a new product line as tempting as it is to assume 2(channel)00. If it were a digital amp even I would think that they would have given it a higher number in the hierarchy.
I think I am going to go with a table top radio/CD player (e.g. Model 88 by Henry Kloss).
Or.... its a mind meld device that will replace remotes but allowing the user to just think the volume up or adjust trim levels. Never would you need to program a macro again.

Here's a wild shot at it: The model 200 is the upgraded version of the 1050. The "200" represents the second generation (the model number might change before production and promo). It will have PLII, DTS-ES, DD-EX, Neo6, and probably a proprietary surround mode. The power will be increased from 65 watts per, to approx 85-100 watts per. Connections like component ins and outs will be added. And it will have a learning remote to boot. All this for a mere $685. Could it be, could it be?

It is "definitely" an amplifier that caters strictly to the bass portion of us audiophiles. So, my guess is that the new product will be a bass amplifier (single channel / monoblock format).

Well my real guess is for a nice two-channel headphone amplifier.
Actually the model 200 is the code name for the Outlaw Audio Audiophile Security Sensor (A.K.A. The A.S.S). The purpose of this unit is too keep your HT/Audio system safe from audiophiles. It works through a complicated series of sensors and neural network algorithms that can detect the presence of an audiophile in a user defined listening space. Once detected, the unit injects an infinitesimally small amount of hiss into the music stream. Immediately the audiophile will notice something wrong and move their ear close to the speaker to determine the source of their discomfort. The unit then raises the system volume driving the offending audiophile from the listening space.
Disclaimer - I actually consider myself an audiophile, so no offense is intended to the sensitive audiophiles in the audience.

I haven't had time to read through all of the guesses, but the most common seems to be a 2 channel amp. I'll venture to guess it is a 2 channel amp, but a tube version based on some lower cost Chinese design.

Hmmm... more than a few people have guessed CD player now... perhaps I need to change my guess... After all, if too many people think it is so, then it cannot be so... Such is the way of the Outlaws...

My guess is a set of bi-wire speaker cables.

My other guess is that it is a parametric phase alignment device. This ultra smooth system operates in the X,Y, and Z planes for a full range of motion. It is firmly mounted to the floor of the listening room. A small accessory such as a LazyBoy or sofa is attached to the top of the device. The device comes in 2 versions -- the 200A and the 200M. While holding the remote of the 200A near a point between, and slightly in front of, one's ears, the remote sends a signal to the motorized system which automatically adjusts the listening position such that the listener is placed in the exact "sweet spot" of the system (regardless of it being 2, 5, 6, or 7 channel). Additionally, for those listeners not having time aligned speakers, the system will also oscillate to and fro to compensate for timing differentials associated with the sound waves emmanating from the woofers versus the tweeters.
While the spousal acceptance factor (SAF) for the Model 200A is not anticipated to be high, the SAF for the Model 200M (Manual) is expected to be lower since it is spouse who will be working the H**l out of a series of little cranks to position his/her significant other into the perfect spot and then attempting to shake the whole thing under the auspices of time alignment.
I think maybe I'll need to install a seatbelt in with mine and maybe make it a two-seater.
Chris

If you go by the current numbering system and Newsletters the 200 is not:
An amp A processor or receiver An internet tuner Another ICBM A projector A DVD/CD player
I flip a coin and come up with digital amplifier…
Or a halter for a pony.

A cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm).
A little thingie, shaped somewhat like a tape head demagnetizer. Remember audio tape? Demagnetizers?? Remember anything???
THE cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm)! AHHH!!!
The cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm)takes two batteries.
Special batteries (more about the special batteries later).
The cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) comes with an assortment of plug-in light emitting diodes (leds) of different universal harmonizing wavelengths (colors). Obsessive-compulsives will really appreciate the choice of different colored leds.
When the special batteries are inserted into the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) and one of the leds is attached to the special led attachment and the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm)'s ON-OFF switch is gently placed to the ON position, the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) vibrates (don't go there!) just at the edge of human perception: the nature of the vibrations is influenced by the color of the led chosen and by the aura of the user. Red leds help in the most excellent reproduction of the lowest frequencies. Very good for subwoofer. Orange led for mid and upper bass frequencies. Yellow and green: most agreeable for transcendental sublime reproduction of critical mid range frequencies. Blue for delicate high notes. Violet (with the ulta violet left intact) good for ultra high notes and dog whistle. Use sunscreen (spf 200 or better) when employing violet for happy avoidance of melanomas and cadillacs.
The user turns on (I said DON'T GO THERE!!!) the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) and gently and lovingly waves the pointy end (remember, cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) looks similar to a head demagnetizer) along each piece of audio equipment (what the heck, use cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) on anything you want) cherishing soothing vibrations emminating from cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) into user's hand. Move the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) in the direction going from signal input to signal output. Use it on the audio cables, even on your disks and pets. It slices. It dices ... oops, wrong commercial.
For to attain happiest opperation, gentle user is serenely encourage to think nice soothing thoughts while employing cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm). Many successes of sonic delight of application are to be obtained from frequent use of cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm).
The key to the proper functioning of the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) is the use of the special batteries.
These special batteries are special.
Special rechareable batteries that can be recharged.
Although rechargeable on any suitable charger, for the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) to function, the batteries must be returned to your cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) dealer, where, for a small fee (well, small for Bill Gates), they are exchanged for a fully charged set.
The near-dead batteries are air freighted to our research and development facility high in the Tibetan Himalayas, in one of the suburbs of Lahsa. There, in the dark of night, the batteries are fully discharged by Tibetan monks, who are chanting in order to fully exorcise bad sonic humors, anguishing, that are coming out of the dying batteries. These bad sonic humors origninally came from the user's audio (or AV) system that was visited by the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm).
When the batteries are fully discharged later that night, they are taken and placed in special battery chargers that get their power from an array of solar cells. These solar sells are aligned in such a way that each and every solar cell catches the first rays of the rising sun while NEVER being in a position to be in the shadow of another solar cell array. The morning dew, glistening enchantingly, brings a special joy into the hearts of the monks and a tear of thanksgiving to their eyes. As the first rays from the rising sun land on the solar cells and starts the batteries' reincarnation as power sources to power the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm), all of the Temple's monks commence the chant of re-empowering. When the batteries are fully re-empowered, the monks immediatly fall silent as one and lovingly repack the batteries for their airflight back, in first class of course, to cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm) dealers where they await awakening and and the opportunity to serve the users of the cosmic alignment harmonizer(tm), bringing forth cosmic alignment harmonies of great musical satisfaction. Your bliss may vary.
With much humbleness of heart and humility of spirit.
Paul

My serious guess(and hope): A tabletop radio w/cd player and remote.
My humorous guess: A 200lb, 200 watt monoblock amp, also handy in the back of the car or pick-up for traction on icy roads.

I guess it is going to be a digital jukebox / media server.
Or, possibly a NAG Audio Processor. It will monitor ambient sound in the room for NAG intereference and cancel it out so not to interfere with the desired sounds of your system. For instance, if it picks up "The lawn needs mowed" or "Clean the bathroonm" all you will hear is something like "Would you like me to make you a sandwhich while you watch your game"

Since we hear talk from Outlaw about them getting into DVD or Projectors they seem ready to take the step into video my guess (and hope!!) makes perfect sense as a logical step in that direction. I think it is a Line Doubler (like the DVDO iScan Plus Pure Progressive Line Doubler http://www.laaudiofile.com/iscan.html) however Outlaw takes it even further and allows you to input component, s-video, and composite video signals and after doubling send the signal out via composite or a 15 pin VGA connector.

Well, the newsletter did say that the model 200 "sounds great," which would seem to imply that it's not a video-based product...

It's a digital Satellite signal home receiver allowing commercial free music to be fed into your existing system. Of course for a small monthly fee to the service provider such as XM radio. DSB.

I wish I could recant my first guess of a DVD player now that I know the "sounds great" part. It is obvious that main thing missing from the Outlaw line up is a Karaoke machine.
After all, everybody wants to hear their drunk friends, sing off-key while slurring and mangling lyrics, in clean, clear, and uncolored sound.

Serious - A single disc CD player. Could play SACD or DVD-A but more than likely will be a fantastic sounding cd player.
Humorous - Your deluxe model Model T. This baby has it all. AM, bicycle horn, crank start, and leather seating. Not only do you get all that extra stuff, but today only you can get the Flux Capacitor included for FREE! Through extensive research it was determined that Doc Brown was off in his calculations. Turns out time travel can be done in not 88 MPH. Not even 78 MPH. The time barrier can be breached at 8.8 MPH! (Note: Mr. Fusion not included.)

My guess (though I'm not the least bit confident about it)...
An A/V harddrive recorder. Tivo-like Video and 128kMP3-perfect CD copyMLP Audio storage.
This would be within Outlaw's reach, original, and worth the 'surprise' of a contest. A hard drive in a small box, simple display, remote and good user interface and you'd have a slick little A/V addition.
It's def. something stereo.
A 2 chan amp would be called the 720 or 725 I think, even though I did really want to guess this (as have most people here). Unless the model 200 is not the final name then it ain't an amp I think. Another amp as the 'suprise' would seem to be a let down though. Wow, another amp. Whoopee. Not worth all the 'secret' IMO.
Some have guessed digital amp. Hmmm... I've been hounding Outlaw to do this for years.
Personally I'd love for them to do this, but I think it would kill their own monster-sized solid state line-up, which is a bulk of their few products, so I don't see this happening for a while yet... if ever, and then only as a full line of multichan amps replacing thier solid state.
Speaker cables seem like a good guess, but then Outlaw doesn't name their cables with model numbers. Again.. is this a code or the real model number?
Outlaw has stated that they're not doing a DVD player or DLP projector any time soon and the market seems to have made no changes that would change Outlaw's mind, so I have to believe it ain't either of these.
A CD player doesn't seem like Outlaw at all either. Not when even most high end CD players are now DVD/CD players. An actual 'only CD' player is an outdated rare product now-a-days, and not Outlaw.
With Outlaw's ties to Atlantic Tech. I say no way to speakers. If Outlaw would get into speakers they'd release a full surround sound package and not a pair of mains alone. This is not Outlaw's bag.
I can't see Outlaw getting into any tubed based systems either.
The internet radio was on hold, but IF it's now 'off hold' this looks like the good guess since we all know they actually finished this product, and probably hate to just dump the idea.
The timing seems right for a return. And the system would be stereo so the 2 in 200 works with Outlaw's use of model numbers usually having some channel meaning.
Or could this be a re-working of this idea and it's a sat. instead of internet radio rec. now (plus hard drive?).
Oh well.. I already guessed I guess. Too late.
If I'm wrong, maybe some of my thoughts might help others guess right?

Since Outlaw is not doing product trade-in, like 750 for 770, I would have to go along with a 2-channel amp to make the 750 owners enjoy the 7.1 capability of their 950's.
The humorous guess will be for a hiss zapper, this will zap the hiss from 950 and convert it to shhh.

Azyran,
Well thought out...I was thinking as well that it couldn't be a biamp, the DVD-player is out because of digital compatability issue, there are already speaker wires, speakers don't make sense, etc. However, I don't think a foray into the hard-disk recording arena will be suitable to Outlaw either, due to the current legislation of Hollywood against TiVo and SonicBlue. Besides, TiVo hasn't turned a profit yet from its machine, even though it's close. Nope, I'm afraid that Outlaw's going to hold back its ambition and introduce a line conditioner. A surge protector/line conditioner is the big piece of electronic stereo equipment missing from their lineup (besides the CD/DVD player and speakers).

Digital audio jukebox /Internet receiver /Something using IntelligentAudioTM/ Portable DataPlay-enabled unit/ Combo DVD player with digital amp/CD player with that new (what do you call it) recording medium.
What I’d like to see: 2-channel Digital amp. (just because)
Enie Meanie Miney Moe. Hmmm…I will have to come back when I don’t have a cold.

I'll make two guesses.
1.) A line conditioner/surge protector. 2.) An external video aspect ratio/stretch mode control. Something that overcomes some of the horrible stretch modes on some projection TV's.

My guess is a 100 channel 2watt/channel amp for future surround systems using full range horn loaded speaker systems. Your horn loaded subwoofer also functions as a 5 vehicle garage.
Oh! I already used up my silly guess, so here goes a serious attempt.
A power line conditioner along the line of the PSAudio PP300 power plant. Seriously, this would be nice.
I do think that a 2 channel 100w/ch seems like a very resonable guess for something with a model number of 200. Or maybe a pair of powered headphones with 200mw of PULSATING POWER.

My guess is AC power management gear along the lines of the PS Audio 300 & 600 series products. Hopefully something that will give our systems clean & safe juice at a reasonable price point. My not so serious guess ? I couldn't compete with some of the hilarious posts I've read here so I'll pass on this opportunity. Thanks for the chance to compete !

My official "real" guess is a CD player. To this point, Outlaw has no "sources", so I think a good CD player would be an obvious choice.

It's either an internet radio gizmo or a set of 200 replacement power buttons, each one a different shade of green to allow those not happy with stock colors a choice. The model 210/211/... will follow, being green power buttons for other manufacturers equipment.
In conjunction with these products sighted listening test results will be revealed in which the new green buttons are proved to improve imaging and presence for any device they are fitted on.
I'm hoping we can still tell which of those is serious....

My guess is-- a satellite fed digital tuner- probably fee based- e.g., XM Radio.

I have no idea...
But just to get a guess in, I guess I'll say a 2 channel amp

A 2ch amp makes the most sense to add to the Outlaw lineup.

Humorous guess: A rumor smasher! It may not do much for your sound system, But it sure will make you feel a whole lot better about being an Outlaw.

This will be my final guess, no matter what I said in any emails before or after this under any previous names or whatever. If I wirte anything about the Model 200 after this post someone drop a 770 on my head from the tallest structure you can get it to. I like the idea of a mini shelf system the best. This seems to be a great addition. It should be able to play CDs (3 discs at least), have a radio, and maybe a cassette section (not sure about this though). Two solid speakers for sure, maybe expansion for four. It'd be really nice to have a digital input and a couple stereo inputs for a DVD players, playstation or other things like that. This would be fantastic for highschoolers, college students, and people just wanting a good sound system.
I still want to keep my humorous guess. Here it is again:
It could also be an omnipoint player. It will accept any type of media. Has no interconnects because it is one device. Sound comes from one point, sound comes from every point. It plays the full range of sound, automatically equalizing itself for all frequencies and every location in the room. It can play up to just short of your eardrums bursting ,unless you hear a hiss in which case it will go until your head explodes.
I want to apologize for all the headaches I am causing the Outlaws in my guessing here.

I suppose I should put a guess in. I don't think its a 2 channel amp since I would guess it would be a 720.
1.) Power Center
2.) Ceiling fan with built in wireless speakers for surround sound.

Here's another guess:
A digital subwoofer amp. The Model 200 has a rated frequency response from 200Hz down to 200milliHz. It is stereo for those with two subwoofers and is rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms, 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms and 1600 watts per channel into 1 ohm. With a flip of a switch, the Model 200 becomes a bridged mono amp rated at 800 watts into 8 ohms, 1600 watts into 4 ohms and 3200 watts into 2 ohms. And beings it is digital, it is OH! SO COOL!
This is not my serious or humor guess but what the heck, here it is.

My hopeful guess is a replacement for the aging 1050 (with DPLII). My realistic guess is a two channel amp to upgrade 5-channel amps to 7.

I believe its a new 200 watt Monoblock, thats based on the newer compact 775/770 circuts so it's a bit smaller so you can put 2 or 3 on a shelf together. Or possibly it might be an accessory set of different colored power buttons.

Midnight (eastern time) tonight or tomorrow (depends on the interpretation of ending on the 7th) I hope to see a post from Outlaw as to what this thing is I can wait a little longer for the winners as the model 200 isn't shipping yet. If it makes a difference, I like the shock collar for anyone who hears a hiss the best (not my guess by the way).

Ok... well, I think the Model 200 is a big metal triangle and ringer. You hang it from the porch and "CLANGITY CLANGITY CLANG!!!!!" heralds important events like the mail arriving with that new DVD! One could also use it to bring back all the Outlaws out roundin' up them stray ponies that Sponge Bob let loose... You know, for dinner and a movie!
On a more serious note, how about something I don't think I've seen anybody else guess, an mp3 player?

The Outlaw 200 will be a faux black box, with 200 (green) glowing lights including electronic clicks when different configurations are depressed. It’s to fool the wife into believing you have the most tweaky/complicated system on the market, thereby increasing her cooperation and relief (and her believe that ANY interface is easier than that!) when you attempt to teach her your remote of choice. Honey …I can teach you on this basic unit or this….. Its secondary application is for homes populated with very small people, recommended installation is on the lowest level of your rack, or convenient low coffee table thereby attracting young children with sticky fingers to this area first, creating those extra precious seconds necessary to detect and remove said untrained operators from the area.
I'd go for the Outlaw Nascar race kit though or the 200 piece live performance rental

Its ... its ... a 200 button hiss generator for those who think that whatever piece of electronics they have is TOO quiet. A touch of hiss can add a sense of realism. A lot of hiss can add a lot of realism. Keeping in mind the ancient proverb: "If it is worth doing, it is worth doing to excess", you can have all 200 buttons pushed at the same time for the utmost in HISSSSSSSSSS induced realism. Not responsible for burned out tweeters or deaf dogs.
This is not my serious or humor entry but it is meant to be thought provoking in a hissy way.

Last minute entry!!!
My guess is that it's a 200 button remote the size of a coffee table.
Seriously though, I think/hope it's the new improved version of the 1050 utilizing newer features like DPL2 and DTS-ex.
