Good evening. Question ... I'm redoing my living room setup. New TV (50" HDTV replacing 36" SDTV) and new universal player (1080p upconverting over HDMI). In my old set up, I had the SACD player setup to output stereo and fed those two leads to the 1050 and the DVD-Audio player hooked up via one of the digital connections.. In the new setup ... should I do the same (i.e.; let the universal player down-mix to stereo) or should I feed all 5.1 to the 1050 and let it do the down-mixing to stereo?

There will certainly be a digital connection (probably optical) as well to support the movie audio.

Any thoughts or opinions that anyone would care to share with me?

Thanks,

I'd downmix at the player, since the 1050's multichannel analog input bypasses all the DSP and therefore can't downmix that input.

Looking forward to hearing how the new toys work out... smile

Gonk,

Thanks for the reply. I had some vague recollection of that, but couldn't find the manual and wasn't sure. One follow-on question ... where do you think it would make sense to feed those stereo inputs into the 1050? I'm leaning towards the Front L/R of the multi-channel inputs to ensure it's feed it left pristine and "untweaked" as possible.

Thanks,

I agree that the left/right channels of the multichannel input would be the best route to take.
