I am thinking of something for a secondary Home Theater...don't need the fanciest or latest out there...just something that is quality and will allow me to have Mains, Center and possibly a Sub...nor rear surrounds...(for now)...are the 1050s still a good deal on the used market (I see them from time to time in the $300 range) or should I look for something else???

The amp section was always well-regarded and would still be a solid choice. The basic decoding tools are all there. Video switching is pretty sparse by today's standards, but for a secondary setup you may not need any switching in the receiver. The warranty will have run out by now (they've been discontinued for longer than the warranty period, so there can't be any still under warranty), but Outlaw is still providing service for them if something does go awry. I'm impressed that we still see them selling for $300 on the used market (they were $500 new when discontinued in 2003), but that would seem to support the idea that they are still worth having around.

Yup...I picked one up for a buddy for $330 shipped a while back and he loves his...I just haven't seen any in nice condition in a bit...thanks gonk!

...well I am still looking...guy on audiogon from California ($350 plus shipping plus paypal) sent me back an email and signed it with a different name for payment...signed the email with a different name...follow up emails to him for clarification have gone unanswered...guess it wasn't meant to be...glad I am not out $406.00 too...(always a bright side, eh?)

There is one on Audiogon right now for $295.
I was thinking about it, but the lack of component video connections nixes it for me as a primary system. A 950 would still be nice though....

a year and a half later and I find myself possibly going to a nice 2 channel "home theater" and I found a nice condition 1050 again on the 'gon...we'll see if there is "joy" on this one...
