Welcome to the ICBM Discussion Center. To start, I'd like to mention a few recent happenings. Our first shipment of ICBMs were scheduled to arrive late last week. However, due to the events of September 11th and delivery problems, that shipment has been delayed. We are now expecting delivery next week and anticipate that we will begin shipping the ICBM-1 in about 10 days. If your name is on the wait list we will be contacting you within the next four or five days to verify your desire to purchase the ICBM-1. For those people, I would urge you to download the manual which can be found in the "Products" section of our web site, and confirm that the ICBM-1 is the correct product for your system needs.

I just read the manual and it looks impressive. Of course, it is completely unnecessary for my system :-( but I hope to need it one day in the future. I look forward to hearing what people have to say about it.
Keep up the good work Outlaws!

hi scott a question about the ICBM. I know it's about bass management but i just wanted to know who needs it..what kind of gear...what kind of targetted consumer...audio or HT??
. I am going to be connecting my DVD-Audio player to the 1050 via the 6-channel discrete. I believe the ICBM will help. Do you have any student discounts? I think I am on the waitlist but dont know

subdoofus,
As you may know, the six channel analog inputs lack bass management. For those of us who use a DVD-Audio and/or SACD players we need an external way to properly redirect bass to the subwoofer. The ICBM is just that product!
While we do not offer a student discount, please feel free to visit our Late Summer "Latest News" for a complete list of packages prices.

I own a parasound 2500u and Panasonic DVD-A player so I will be needing the ICBM because as with my system and I presume with everyone else's it's a direct line out with no bass management or anything else for that matter other then volume control

This sounds like just what I need. I have Polk RT800, RT600, CS400 speakers, Panny RP91 with DVD-A, and a Marantz receiver with 6.1 compatability. My speakers are rated at mains=28Hz to 26KHz -3db= 42Hz-25KHz 90db 1Meter,1Watt center=40Hz to 26KHz -3db= 50Hz-25KHz 91db 1Meter,1Watt surrounds=30Hz to 26KHz -3db= 45Hz-25KHz 90db 1Meter,1Watt rear center=55Hz to 22KHz -3db= 60Hz-20KHz 89db 1Meter,1Watt I have a powered subwoofer. These quotes are right from the Outlaw website: "Most of today's DVD-Audio players, and some of today's multi-channel SACD players, do not have bass management... The ICBM can fix these problems entirely." "The ICBM works not only with 5.1-channel systems, but also with 6.1-channel systems like Lucasfilm THX Surround EX and DTS ES-Matrix and ES-Discrete." "Many enthusiasts with tower speakers run them full bandwidth. While this is certainly safe in most cases, it is not ideal. Most tower speakers are incapable of reproducing a flat frequency response down to 20 cycles, and often times begin to roll off around 40 Hz. In addition to the loss of low bass information, your speakers (and amplifier) are being asked to run at full steam. Freeing up your speakers from these lowest bass signals enables them to reproduce higher frequencies with greater accuracy, and depth, improving overall sound quality and user enjoyment." BTW Thanks to Home Theater Talk for the heads up!

I have a Pioneer VSX D810S A/V receiver using pre-outs to a Carver Premier THX 5-channel amp with Tannoy speakers and an AR subwoofer. Having just read the ICBM review in Sound&Vision, and read the manual, my question is: do I really need the ICBM? Also, I have two DVD/CD changers...Toshiba & Onkyo.

I can't tell much about the bass management capabilities of the Pioneer. The separate power amp and speaker/sub setup is definitely well-suited to adding an ICBM-1 between the receiver and amp. Do you need the ICBM? If you are perfectly happy with the bass management in the receiver, then no. If the Pioneer's bass management is limited or you've had trouble with it, the ICBM should solve your problems.
