Hey Guys, I have had to use the manual on/off as opposed to the trigger. I have checked and double checked the connection. (FYI Page 8 770 manual Automatic On. "As described on page?." It doesn't actually tell you the page ) Someone that has it working please walk me thru how you have yours setup. 1. I am using the supplied (770) trigger cable. I made sure it was plugged into DC Trigger Main. 2. I assume you use this instead of the main power switch. Regardless I have tried it in every possible combination of switches on/off and have not had remote trigger work. Thanks. ------------------ Stott

I don't know what all you've tried, but here's how I'd do it based on how I have my 750 set up. Run the trigger cable from the main trigger output on the 950 to the 770's trigger input. Turn on the 950. Turn on the 770 with the front power switch (also need the rear "master" power on, of course). Now, when you turn the 950 off the 770 will also go off. And when you turn the 950 back on the 770 should come back on, too. That any help? ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

It is sort of confusing, because the power button stays lit up, even though the amp is off, in standby mode. When you turn on your 950, can you hear when the amp kicks in?

alfack -- I've got a 750, and on it the power button light goes off when the amp is triggered off. (At least, that's how it worked when I triggered it directly from my 1050; I've got it on a switched high-current outlet in a Panamax MAX5100 now, so the outlet is getting switced now.) Has that changed on the newer amps (770/755)? That'd definitely be good to know. It would explain stott's trouble (he could try the right configuration and assume that the amp didn't trigger off when it really did). ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

I can confirm that the trigger does not turn the light off, at least on the 755, and I would assume the mechanism is the same. It confused me for a while, because I did not think I had it set up correctly, but the amp does not get hot, so I guess it is off.

Well, Sounds like I have it hooked up properly. I did not hear the relay click off or the light turn off which was why I assumed it was still on. I wouldn't expect it to heat up since I am not drawing any load off of it in standby. I think I will shoot the outlaws an email and see what they say.

Good to hear that. Thanks guys. I was wondering the same thing with my 770. I figured it was off but its nice to have some backing.

I will post my response when I hear from the outlaws. I have been turning it off when not in use regardless

FYI, It works just fine. The light stays on. It was just difficult to tell the amp was switching on with a couple components switching on at the same time.
Sorry for the confusion

I am more confused now than before I read this thread.
Does the 770 trigger on and off with the 950?
Does the light on the 770 go off when the 950 goes off?
If the 770 gets hot at idle then is something wrong? If it gets hot then some current is being drawn, and I would not want to have a heater on all the time.
What did Outlaw respond?
Thanks for any answers.

Thanks Stott. I just checked mine this morning and it is nice and cool. I wonder if that was a mistake by the outlaws but it is confusing at first.

jacket_fan: Yes, the trigger cable turns off the 770, but it's not terribly obvious at first because the power light does not turn off.
And yes, the 770 will draw current at idle, and from what I can tell a fair amount of it, so it will get hot at idle if it's not well ventilated. Mine is somewhat ventilated-restricted at the moment, so I get around this by not using it for long periods of time continuously.
And when I say "idle," I mean it's on but there is no signal applied to the inputs, so there is no sound. I don't mean that it's been turned off by the 950. When it's turned off, it doesn't get hot, which is how I identified that it was actually off despite the power light being on.
Most amps, as far as I know, do draw current at idle although it varies how much.

I may try to borrow an Amp meter from work to see what this puppy draws at idle. Will post if and when I get it done. Is everyone clear on how this thing works now? Any questions. Just ask. ------------------ Stott

Hello All,
Unlike the Model 750, the light does in fact stay on when the amp(770/755)is triggered off.

Scott, why the change? It seems very non-obvious, especially as the 750 "got it right."
