Can you feed the outputs of any combo receiver/amplifier (like the 1050) to the inputs of the 770?

Should be no problem. All the 770 is doing is accepting an input (seven, actually, each totally independent of the others except for the shared source of power) and amplifying it. You could use it with a 1050 as easily as a 950. For that matter, you could use it with a 1050 or 950 to drive five speakers and a separate stereo pre-amp to drive two other speakers (if you so desired).

So shooting 65 watts into the inputs of the 770 won't fry anything? The Owner's manual says, "Use the INPUT jacks to connect the outputs of a surround processor, preamplifier, AV receiver with preout connections, ..." Since the manual doesn't specifically identify an amplifier to amplifier connection, I hesitate to do so.

The pre-amp outputs of the 1050 are not amplified -- the 65W rating applies to the speaker outputs only.

My original post should have been more specific and said, "Can you feed the speaker outputs of any combo receiver/amplifier (like the 1050) to the inputs of the 770?" I don't think my Yamaha has preamp outputs.

Ah, that's a different story. No. You will have to have pre-amp outputs on your receiver to add any amplifier. Sorry.
