Setting Lost During Power Outages

Our electricity sometimes drops for short periods (a few seconds), and while most of my electrical appliances whether the short drops, the 950 loses its settings. Is there something I can do short of buying a UPS to keep the settings from dropping. (I do use a surge protector, just not a UPS.)
Thanks in advance for any advice you all have.

I also live in Chicago. Your 950 should loose only the remote zone settings with a power outage (this is confirmed in the owners manual). If you're loosing all settings, I suggest you contact Outlaw Support.

I live in Ottawa Canada and during the recent massive Hillary Clinton-caused power outage (Hey! She blamed us first!) none of my 950's settings were lost.
Mind you it was connected to a big UPS - along with most of my other non-amplifier components.
Just for the heck of it I did let the UPS keep carrying the load even after the power came back on. It outlasted the outage by several hours - although I had powered down most components by then. The 950 sat unpowered overnight and nothing was lost - as expected.

I had my 950 hooked up to a switched power supply. So essentially, I shut off power to it every time I turned it off. Never lost any of the mains settings (2nd zone, don't know, never used them).

This summer was the worst in my area for thunderstorms, so I frequently shut the power down to the circuit my 950 is hooked up to, and I was also in the Hillary Clinton black out. The 950 never lost any of its settings. Not sure what settings the remote zone has other than volume and input source. I didn't notice any loss there either. My guess is it's your 950 unit that's to fault. Let us know what Outlaw has to say about it.

Heck, my 950 was on an electricity starvation diet for 250+ hours back in July thanks to our storm, and all settings were retained. At least, I think they were... (scurrying off to double-check...) Yep, all still there. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

One of the main reasons I have the 950 is my previous Processor losing the settings in black outs, brown outs and just everytime the Power company around here er, passed gas. The 950 is about a month old and we have had some rough weather during that time. If I see it coming I cut it and equipment off, but I have had a number that have gotten by me and I have not had a single failure. Just the other night I did not even here the storm blow up but bang it got me twice before I could cut everything off. The 950 once again passed with flying colors, retaining all settings. I may not like everything about my new processor, but this is one of my prime concerns that has been answered. If you are having problems I would contact Outlaw and ask.

Thanks, all!
I will contact support. The key problem is that the preamp forgets that the satellite receiver is on Optical 2, and keep reverting to a coax line. Thus, no sound.
