I've been reading posts about bass management on the 950, but I want to make sure I have this straight before I order one. I want to use my subwoofer for movies and multichannel music, but not 2-channel music.

I am going to hook up my DVD/SACD/CD player to the 6-channel analog inputs and digital input. I will use the 7100 amp for everything except my subwoofer. The subwoofer will have a separate amp.

When watching DVDs, I will use the digital out from the DVD player with the subwoofer amp on. When listening to multichannel SACD, I will turn analog bass management on and leave the subwoofer amp on. When listening to 2-channel music, I will turn the analog bass management off and turn the subwoofer amp off.

Is this correct? Thanks.

I think you also have to connect your player via the analog stereo rca cables to select 'stereo bypass'. I could be wrong because I don't listen to CDs, but I don't think a stereo CD will play correctly through the 6 channel bypass. Anyone?

But, for SACD/DVD-A and DVD 5.1, you are correct.

My DVD/SACD player is connected exactly as you propose and I use in in the same way.

Two channel stereo CD's play just fine through the 6-channel analog input. And your alternative in and out plan for the analog bass management will also work fine.

Great, I can handle flipping a couple of switches to listen to a CD. Thanks.
