I spent last night hooking up my new 950 & 755. My speakers are JBL 412II's for the front and S center with S38II's for the rear. This setup produces no bass at all. Changing from small to large makes no difference, changing the bass adjustment makes no difference. Turning sub on in speaker config. made no difference.
We thought maybe the speakers were bad since they were brand new and had not be tried yet. So first we hooked my sons Polk monitor 10's to the front and tried a CD in stereo, still no bass. Then we hooked his 8 year old $200 35watt Sony reciever up to the 412's and they shook the whole house.
Is there something here I'm missing, besides my bass and $2100.

Have you run the sub output from the preamp to the amp?

Yes we hooked the sub outlet up, in fact we have tried it hooked up and unhooked with no change in output. Adjusting the base level from -6 to +6 changes nothing. Turning the sub option on and off changes nothing.
I'm begining to think mine is turkey. At least they have the 30 return if not satisfied. I passed on a new Marantz 9300 for $2100 because of all the great things I read about this combo. I think I'll spend the rest of the day kicking myself in the ass.

Do you hear anything when you engage the 950's sub test tone?

No. The left and right give a sound but no sub. I already unhooked the center and rears, so I'm not sure if they give a sound, but they did play just no base.

Before you send it back, pull off the volume control knob, and with the power on, and using the end of a paper clip, gently press the small button at the '9 O'clock' postion. That will reset everything to a default condition. If still no bass, I strongly recommend you call tech support as they may want to walk you through some steps.

Talked to the good folks at Outlaw today, and with their help I'm up and running. Even if the 755/950 had not worked out, you have to give props to the people they have working there. They bend over backwards to address your concerns and they are very prompt with their responses.
How does it sound? Fantastic!! We couldn't be more pleased. I'm spending the whole day going thru my favorite CD's then we are going to spend the night watching movies.
Thanks Outlaw, a big thumbs up!

Yeah, sure would like know what the fix was so we could pass it along, but if it was to embarrassing you can keep it a secret.
Probably can't hear us over the bass....

I know I'm curious, having just bought the 950/7100 combo. Maybe you can save me trouble when I hook up my subwoofer, and prevent me from kicking myself in the arse. I wouldn't want to attack the Outlaw's product for no good reason. -Joe ------------------ Remember the Intellivision? http://www.gotmaille.com/nostalgia/
