I'm ap I’m currently using a Technics SHA-C500 for decoding DTS, DD. This used to be an add-on to a stereo preamp but now is being used as the preamp. Although it has a LFE subwoofer output, I chose to use a Audio Control electronic crossover at 60Hz to feed the sub. This is the only way that I can use the sub for both bypass (for stereo) and DTS/DD. Would the upgrade to the 950 be reasonably beneficial? Is it worth it?

I made a similar migration, actually. The 950 would give you the latest DD-EX and DTS-ES formats as well as Dolby Pro Logic 2 and DTS:Neo6 for two-channel material.

Plus, in my switch from the Technics unit (which I was using only for DTS,) I noticed an improved audio performance as well. More clarity, improved directionality.

Finally, the 950 is a full-fledged pre/pro with more setup and connection options. At the price, I think it would be an excellent upgrade for you, particularly after you reduced your costs by selling the Technics and your bass management device on eBay.

Thanks boblinds
I think in October I'll bite the bullet and order the 950. I'll see what I can get for the other gear first.
Cheers
Joe
