I've had my 1050 for sometime and have been very happy with it. I was wondering if anyone knew of updated codes for two pieces of equipment I have.

They are:

Sony DVP-S9000ES
DirectTV digital satellite receiver

Of course I haven't tried the 'search' code process yet, but thought maybe I could save a little time.

Thanks in advance

It look s like a good possibility, but what brand of remote is the 1050? I thought I had seen it somewhere before, but I can't remember.

Thanks

The 1050 uses a Catalyst48 remote (as do the 990 and 1070, although those two use a newer version of the Cat48). The Catalyst48 uses the code library and JP1 programming capability used by the Radio Shack and One-for-all remotes documented on Remote Central.

Thanks gonk. To verify, I need to go to the http://www.remotecentral.com/ site and select the 'Universal Remote Codes' area and select either the 'Radio Shack' or 'One for All' links and that should take me to pages that give me codes to try for my 1050 remote?

I went to the 'One for All' page and it seems all there remotes start with URC and I did not find a JP1 on there. Am I mistaken as to what to look for? The 'Radio Shack' link just brings up a text page from them and it does look like the codes that Outlaw used but I didn't see anything on there for my satellite receiver, and I have tried the Sony code they had, and Outlaw uses as well, for my DVD (0533) and had no luck with it.

I think I had tried this code before to use with my DVD, as I have had it for a while, and it didn't work then, so I just used my Sony DVD remote to operate my DVD and the Outlaw remote to control volume.

Any other ideas as to what I should do? Is the JP1 what I need to look for at the 'One for All' site?

Thanks again.

see what you can find here, these are the codes i use with my rs remote and 1050,CAL,dish,etc.

i did see a bunch of 'direct tv' codes, but you might need to be brand specific like i had to be for my 'dish network' receiver.

good luck

Ah, I'm apparently losing my mind - the site I was thinking of was Hi-Fi Remote . "JP1" refers to the PC interface used by the URC remotes (both Radio Shack and One for all), and that site focuses solely on those remotes. Codes can be found here .

Thanks guys. painttoad, thanks for the Radio Shack PDF page, it had a lot of codes to try, but unfortunately none of them worked. Not a problem.

And a big thanks to gonk for the Hi-Fi Remote link. None of the codes there worked, but obviously the JP1 interface is the way to go next. It will put me out about $15 for the cable and shipping, but the whole group looks like they will be able to help me, if they don't already have the files for my equipment.

Thanks again guys. You've been a big help.

how goes the quest,trout?

as a late afterthought,my remote had to be upgraded over the phone to accept the 1050 codes. pretty cool procedure. cool

as a question leads to another...could the original 1050 remote control bass and treble?

It's going OK. I got my JP1 cable just the other day. I've learned how to use the software they provide on the Hi-Fi Remote site, and got my DirecTV D10-300 satellite receiver programmed in. But getting the proper codes for my Sony DVP-S9000ES is a bit more of a problem, but I think I can get it eventually. :p

Sorry, painttoad, I didn't see or acknowledge your last question about the bass and treble. No it did not have any control on the remote, only on the receiver.

I did have to send my remote back in to have it 'worked on' by the support team (Steve) and get my AUX button working. After I got it back, I didn't have any luck getting it to work with the out of the box codes.

So, against Outlaw's (Steve's) recommendations, I used my JP1 to get the current DirecTV D10 codes programmed to the SAT button and my Sony DVP-S900ES programmed to my AUX button and it worked fine. Yet, I haven't set a high priority to getting the select button in the middle of the arrows to work as an Enter command, for it's a little annoying to use the arrows to move the onscreen selection and then have to hit the Enter button aways away from the arrows, though it's only a problem for my DVD. I can get back to the Hi-Fi Remote to get that resolved, I'm pretty sure.

Now all of this is mostly for not, as I'm going to be upgrading my system soon, but I'm writing an email to gonk about my thoughts on that.

Thanks for all your help.

The JP1 stuff is pretty potent, from all that I've ready about it. I've never tried it, so my knowledge is completely general and untested, but I can understand a manufacturer like Outlaw being wary of suggesting that consumers start digging that deeply into a remote's software. I'm glad to hear your adventures into JP1 have worked out pretty well. I'll keep my eyes out for any questions you have on upgrades - new hardware is always fun, even if it's somebody else's new hardware. smile
