So, I'm running my 1050 with a 6.1 setup using the Boston Acoustics System 9000 with an extra match to the front left and right (Micro 90 maybe?) for the 6th channel. I'm looking at possibilities for an upgrade path to separates. Nothing immediate, but always looking ahead and never to early to plan, right? If I were to purchase say... a 7100, and put that in the system, how much would my power requirements change? I know the 1050 loading would drop dramatically, even with channel 6 becoming 90 watts. I'm just wondering if the load presented by the speakers moved to the 7100 would be significantly more or not. I know the 7100 is rated at about 3x's the power consumption of the 1050, but should I just divide that number by 7 and then times by 5 for the new power loading? How do I calculate the new loading I should expect for the 1050? Basically, I'm fishing for do I need to be using another circuit or not. Obviously, a second circuit would be ideal, but how imperative is it?

i'd say not to worry about it.
it's gonna come down to how much current you have on that circuit,15a(or 20a),if you go above that then yes,you would need another circuit.if you are only running a home theater with a 1050,7100,sub,then i doubt you will have a problem.i know it's covered in more detail in another thread somewhere, but i don't have time to look

I don't think there would be a need for an extra circuit if you added a 7100. What else (aside from the home theater) do you have on the existing circuit? If the home theater is the main load, you will be fine adding the 7100 without running a new circuit.
In our old house, I ran a dedicated 15A circuit to the home theater after we had some utility troubles (lost one phase of power to the house). Prior to that, I had the system on the same circuit as the fridge - very much not optimal, but it worked even when I had the Model 750 running alongside the 1050. The new circuit went in shortly before the 950 came out. The new circuit was a bit more important in that case because it also meant I finally had a grounded circuit at the equipment rack. In this house, I'm using a circuit that serves the home theater and the rest of the den, and that circuit has comfortably supported the system (Model 950, 750, two M200's, a 32" CRT HDTV, an LFM-1, and a few miscellaneous source devices).
