Hey fellas ~

I've read a lot of good stuff online about Outlaw products and I'm currently looking for an upgrade to my current set-up.

Right now, I have a Harman-Kardon Sig 2.0 Pre-Amp w/ a pair of Crown Audio Amps ~ a D-75 running in mono to my center channel and a ComTech 400 running my mains. I would classify the sound of these amps as dry, what goes in comes out.

I have a Denon 2800 DVD player and a set of Acoustic Energy Aespirit Speakers, 309 mains, a 307 center channel and a pair of surrounds, which are not currently hooked up.

My set up is 50/50 music/HT....

I'm not really crazy about the set up now. I don't know if it's the pre-amp or the amps, but the sound is just kind of dead. I don't get the big impact on movies that I want and music is kind of flat...

I am considering changing Pre-Amps to see what happens and am looking for a deal of about $800 or less, new or used.

What are ya'll opinions on amps or pre-amps making the biggest difference in a system.

I also owned a Sig 2.0 preamp and found the sound somewhat lacking in overall impact. I replaced it with a 950 and have been quite happy.

I think at least trying a 950 would be a good bet for you in your price range. Based on my experience, I suspect it may get you the clarity, the "punch" and the dynamic range you're looking for.

It appears from what I see from your posted setup that you could use a subwoofer as well. Outlaw is going to come out with their own sub in the near future and they just had a price drop on their 950 to $799.00 falling into your budget.

I would start by experimenting with speaker placement if you haven't already.
