Breaking new ground here, I have a Kameleon remote with the built-in programming phone modem. I hope to find out if it can be programmed with the codes for the 950 I just ordered. I am not too hopeful. I will post the results.

If its a learning remote you should have no trouble programming it. I don't know about the built-in modem programming though.

The Kameleon doesn't support learning commands, but the modem programming trick that DaleB is talking about will let them add device codes to the built-in library. If they have added support for Outlaw products, that would be pretty cool news. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

Latest update! Radio Shack has 2 codes for Outlaw Audio equipment. They are 1109 and 0391..they believe the 1109 is the most recent. They sent them to me via phone modem, and they do not work. So I am going to try to play with them manually and see if I can get something going here. Please try it yourself for the K or similar RS remotes like the older.. model 15-1994..etc.

The 1109 seems to work now I entered it manually. But it will power the 950 off but not on! The channel selector does changes radio frequency, but most other functions are scattered all over.

This same topic is being discussed (sort of) on the 1050 board. This AM, I posted the following:
"Finally called the remote 1-800 number. The Outlaw 1050 code is 1109, but the remote won't accept the code unless it is downloaded via telephone, which was quick and easy. Beyond the Outlaw code, the extremely nice and helpful customer service rep asked for the brands of my other equipment so she could send me an e-mail list of specialized codes used to activate buttons on the remote that might not otherwise work. Won't have this list until Monday, but I'll post again if there is anything worth mentioning."

DaleB -- the 950's power button is a "power off" only, a discrete code. The device buttons act as discrete on buttons. Try using the "CD" or "DVD" input buttons on the 950's screen, it should come on. ------------------ gonk -- Saloon Links | Pre/Pro Comparison Chart | 950 Review

Yes it works just fine as described. And Michaelstano thanks so much for going the extra step for a 'list'. You are right, the RS folks were most helpful. I was not able to get the code loaded with the modem, but no problem with a manual load. I used a landline but maybe there was excessive noise, etc. but anyway I have it working. I will pass this info on the folks as remotecentral.com in case they have not caught up yet.

Below are the instructions and the "extended function codes" the remote folks sent me. Haven't tried them, and not sure all make sense. Perhaps those more skilled at this can educate me.
****
Instructions for inputting advanced codes
1. Find the function you wish to duplicate. The functions should be labeled the same as they appear on the original remote control for your device. The 3-digit number to the left of each function is the code you will likely use (ex. TV code 054--function code 497 is "Sleep")
2. To use the advanced functions, tap the P button one time, then enter the code for the function you wish to use. For example, on a TV working on code 054, you would tap P followed by 497 to activate the "Sleep" feature.
3. You may also program some of these functions directly onto the universal remote control. This feature is useful for frequently-used functions that are not already preprogrammed on the remote. To use this feature, just follow the instructions below.
4. First press the device key that you wish to program. Next, hold the P button until the remote blinks twice, then press 9-9-4. Now tap the P button, followed by the 3-digit code for your desired function. Finally, press the button that you would like to assign for this function. It's best to use buttons that do not already perform functions in the mode you are using (ex. the PLAY button can be used in the TV mode since your TV does not use play for anything else.)
5. After a button has been reprogrammed, you can still access its original function by tapping the P button first. However, if you need to reset a button on the remote to the original function, just press "P" (wait for two blinks)-9-9-4-BUTTON-BUTTON."
PROGRAMMING EXTENDED FUNCTIONS: (key setup)
1. Tap the DEVICE key 2. Hold down P until the red light blinks twice - release 3. Press 9-9-4 4. Tap the P for one blink and release 5. Enter the 3 digit advanced function code (see below) 6. Tap the DESIRED key...the red light should blink twice.

I bought a kameleon a couple months ago. While I am not a serious tweaker and therefore probably did not do everything I could I never got it to operate my Denon DVD or 8 year old Onkyo CD changer. The oultaw remote learned any function from those two devices that I could throw at it. I'm pretty impressed with the supplied remote (along with the 950 itself).
