The DSOTM Multichannel is nifty. The multichannel is very stereo soundfield biased. For the most part there are no major instruments utilized in the surrounds. Sometimes the guitar or keyboard solo finds its way there, but for the most part it's only sounds effects and instrument effects. It's nice.

though i've never been much of a pink floyd fan, this disc is a classic.

in one or two places, the guitar sounds a bit thin.

in all other places...this disc is superb. there is detail i'm betting no one has ever noticed before.

the opening 20ish hz heartbeat is definitely done with some sort of octaver. i never heard the full depth of it before.

the use of LFE is very well done throughout the record (i have a signal indicator light that lets me know when the LFE track is being used).

the clocks are amazing.

lots of tiny voices are incredibly audible (i finally get to understand what the hell they are saying after all these years).

the flow of the album is is so much better in multi-channel and the tunes still stand up after 30 years.

i don't understand why alan parsons wasn't hired to do the surround mix...i think the guy is a genius in his own right.

nevertheless...

this is a must-have multi-channel disc...period.
