I'm thinking about purchasing the 950. Before ordering anything from across the border I always think twice.

For you Canadians who have ordered the 950:
How long did it take?
How much duty did you pay?
Was the total cost more than you expected?
Has anyone had any experience returning articles to Outlaw from Canada, and how did it work out?

Thanks in advance.

I had an excellent experience from the Outlaw end...had an issue or two with UPS (they misplaced my 770 for a week). I got my 950/770 within a week of ordering. No special duties, just a brokerage fee. It was exactly what I thought it would cost with shipping, exchange rate, and sales tax. I had no problems sending my 950 back and receiving a new one (Blue-dot) overall, I would definitely buy Outlaw again. (Shipped to Ottawa).

I got the 950 back in about November and have never regretted the purchase for a second. To get the 950 to my front door it cost me about $1675(in Canadian funds). Keep in mind though that I live in Alberta and do not have any provicial tax and when I placed my order the exchange on the dollar was not as good as it is right now. Also, like Oaf stated, there was no duty just the brokerage fee (I don't know if that encompasses the duty). As for how long it took to arrive I think it was a bit longer than a week by the regular shipping method.

The costs broke down like this:
- the 950 unit cost $899 plus $30 shipping (both U.S. funds). For me this came to $1506.63 Canadian.
- GST for the unit was $99.81 Canadian
- the brokerage fee was $64.65 plus $4.53 GST Canadian
- The grand total of the unit was $1675.62

Even for us Canadians the 950 is still probably the best deal out there for a quality pre/pro that you don't have to re-mortgage your house to buy.

On my last trip across the border the Canadian customs agent looked me in the eye and asked 'Have you seen the new Canadian Quarter?'; I shook my head 'No.' She said 'It looks just like a US dime...'

Had to laugh at that one.
