Has anyone been able to transfer the 950 remote commands to a Marantz RC2000. It can't seem to learn the commands. The RC2000 says OK when learning the commands but then it still doesn't work. This is the first Outlaw product I have purchased, and now it looks like I won't be able to control it with my old reliable remote.

I've been able to learn all the 950 commands I've attempted on my 2000mkII. I had an initial problem with the SAT function but was eventually able to learn it . Try experimenting with the lighting in the room (more lighting seemed to work better for me) and make sure you hold the 950 remote at least 2-3 inches from the 2000. I just got my 950 less than 2 weeks ago and love everything about it except the remote, which doesn't have nearly the flexibility of the RC2000. Good luck.

I just received my 950 a few days ago, so I hadn't yet attempted to program my RC2000. After reading this post, I tried to program the volume up/down buttons, but no luck. This is VERY disappointing, but I guess it isn't really Outlaw's fault that the RC2000 has difficulty with some IR codes. I read somewhere it has problems with 'dual-pulse' codes, whatever those are. Supposedly this was fixed in the RC2000 MkII.

Since I could'nt program the RC2000 I started programming the 950 remote for my other devices. Somehow I must have hit the wrong combination of buttons and now whenever I press the power button on the top row (aud,cd,dvd, aux) only the aud power is activated. Likewise on the bottom row (sat,tv,vcr, cbl) only the sat power is activated. I tried to reprogram the power buttons for each device but that did'nt work. I also tried to erase all codes I had taught it (depress tv and light buttons until the led is done blinking) but this did not unlearn any codes. It did'nt do anything. I tried different batteries. Nothing works. Has anyone ever had this problem? How do you get out of it? It was working before it got messed up.

Totup,

Don't forget to hit the button a second time
on the remote that you are trying to learn from. If you don't confirm the command, the 950 remote will not store it.
Hope this helps.

totup -- it sounds like you've assigned a macro to the 950's power button. (Like the M1-M4 buttons, the power button can be used to store a macro.) There is a typo in the 950's manual when it describes how to program macros. The instructions are correct (when sending a "power" command while creating a macro, you must use the "mute" button), but the example on the following page tells you to use the "power" button.

gonk - thanks. I tried erasing the macro that I had inadvertantly put into the power button using the instructions in the manual. It did'nt work, but I tried a variation where I pressed the mute and sat buttons simultaneously, then I hit the channel up buttion and the remote is working again. I've found that if aud/mute are used to program a macro then it can only be activated when the top source buttions (aud,cd,dvd, aux) are active. Conversely if sat/mute is used then the macro can be accessed only when one of the bottom sources is active. The book did'nt say anything about this.

The macro buttons can each store two macros, one for the top row of devices and one for the bottom row of devices. For some useful information about the capabilities of the 950's remote, I often refer to the SL-9000 manual (substitute the blicking LED for the references to the LCD and you are good to go).
