I'll skip all the pissing and moaning about audio drop outs except to say I'm *that* close to tossing the 1050 and shelling out the cash for a Denon 2803, but I'd rather put the dough toward a new DLP set instead. Here's my question...

I'd like to spread out the center-rear sound field so I don't have a speaker right behind my head (room constraints... sofa on back wall). Can I wire up two speakers in parallel for the center-rear without frying the circuit? This may dip below 4 ohms...

Sheesh! All I had to do was read the manual (posted on this site).... Yes, I can connect two center-rear speakers in parallel.

I have a question. Is there a negative effect if you set your receiver to 4 ohms when all your speakers are rated at 8 ohms? What's the difference between 4 and 8 ohms other then the power rating. Thanks to everyone in advance!

When I had a 1050 I had the switch set to 4 ohms, and had two 4 ohm speakers connected in parallel for my center rear. No problems. Go for it.

if they are 8 ohm speakers then wiring them in parallel will make 4 ohms so be sure to set the switch on the back accordingly.(power off)

and you can set the level by activating 6 channel processing, turning on the test tone, when it come to rear center you can set the level, not sure about a delay,i'm not running 6.1.

The center surround shares the same delay setting as the surrounds, but there is a separate channel calibration adjustment for it. The two speakers will be calibrated together as a single entity since they are sharing the same amp channel. If you haven't do so already, run back through the channel output level adjustment (described on page 24 of the 1050's manual ) while in 6.1 Surround mode to get the center surround channel adjusted properly. There are also some instructions on wiring two speakers to the same output on page 23 of the manual, which can help make sure you've got the wiring correct.

If the center surround speakers share the same delay settings as the surround speakers what happens if my surround speakers have different delays from left to right?? My left surround speaker is closer to the sitting area than the right surround speaker should the delays be the same and adjust the volume of them instead??

i would say yes, adjust the volume keep in mind that turning down the closer speaker can be better than turning up the farther speaker for headroom purposes, spl meter could come into play here.

I have generally used an average distance for the delay setting. The volume issue is resolved by calibration.
