Used (but in excelent condition) 1050 are selling for over $400 on ebay (plus shipping)! So why trade-in for $300????

Less hassle. It's like buying a new car, you're probably better off selling your old one privately but most people will trade it in on a new model because of convenience.

I think polonius hits on the biggest reason. It also goes in spells -- the last two eBay auctions ended between $390 and $416, but historically I've seen $400 as an upper limit used price for a new and lightly used 1050. The folks with 1050's made three years ago (no longer under warranty) may have a hard time getting that good a price.

Trade my 1050 for $300? No way.
Well ok, I might have done it last month for a 950 and 7-200’s if the offer was available then.
While I have purchased a new THX Ultra2 processor and amps from another manufacture as part of a major overhaul of my primary HT system, My 1050 will continue to serve me well, this time in my bedroom theater system. I can’t imagine parting with the 1050 at any price less than what I paid for it. I’m sure my 1050 will continue to serve me well for many years to come.
