There used to be a thread in "DVD-A ... SACD" or something with this in there.
At least one person said they had checked the phase and that on their system the following two items were in phase on the 950:
1) coax/optical digital input using digital bass management in the 950
2) 5.1 analog input using the 80 Hz analog crossover
Remember, what I found in my system was that the above 2 were *out* of phase. Up until that point, I had been only using a CD with discrete test tones on it. So I could comment on LPCM but not DD/DTS specifically.
Now I can.
This disc has DVD-V and DVD-A test tracks on it:
http://www.chesky.com/catalog/body_catalogdtl.cfm?PRODUCT=100274&CATEGORY=2 The comparision is the DD tracks using the coax input on the 950 vs 6 ch bypass with the DVD-A tracks.
I still get that the phase is out 180 deg. If I adjust coax Dolby Digital for in phase, the analog DVD-A is out of phase, and vice versa.
Has to do with using digital BM for DD, vs the 80 Hz analog crossover for DVD-A. Presumably, the induced phase shift for the sub is different between the 2.
No biggie as long as you are aware of it. Maybe the Outlaws can keep this in mind for the 950 Mk II, or its Big Brother whenever it comes out...
