Another happy camper here for the last week with new 950 and HK PA5800 Amps.
2 channel sound is very good and 5.1 decoding is incredible.
I am coming from a Denon 3300 as a Pre/Pro, HK 500, Pioneer Elite 24, and Yamaha 795.
I did like the HK 500's 2 channel sound, but the 950 is as good to me with a little more detail throughout the entire soundstage.

Outstanding piece of equipment. I just received it and hooked it up this week. Still playing/tweaking, but I am floored.

Pauls, I did answer your question about happiness with the 950 (I am) but... I'm not sure how long you've been viewing this forum. No matter...welcome aboard. The wait problem appears solved. I just saw where someone reserved Sept. 2 and it has been shipped. Alot of people did wait along time for theirs, but people ordering now should receive a 950 in short order. The ones that got sent back, for the most part, are the original people who received the original design way earlier this year. There was a problem. It was expressed by the owners (not all of them). It was addressed by Outlaw, and we are now reaping the benefits. Does that help??

Got mine yesterday and set it up last night. Still needs tweaking but so far sounds great in all modes with my Carver Amp and Atlantic Tech speakers.
Like Everett I'm not crazy about the remote. I am struggling to program in the codes to navigate the menus and REC/FF/REW/Pause features on my RCA DSS Ultimate TV box. I also wish there was an additional component out for the DVD Recorder.

It is an excellent prepro. I replaced a Parasound prepro/dd processor pair that I paid $2500 for 4 years ago. The 950 outperforms it in every aspect by a long shot. More important, even my wife noticed the performance differences and is enjoying the 950 as much as I am. The next time I think about upgrading I will definitly check out the Outlaw products first.
Enjoy - didjdude

Everett, So how did you do it? I have a Marantz 2000 as well but can't get it to take the volume controls from Outlaw remote consistently,. The best I have done is get it to work only with the DSS as source (not sure why it won't take it under CD or AMP). Even then it won't allow you to hold down the up or down vol button to change - it only sends a single db increment at a time. What's your secret programing method? I've been extremely pleased with the 950. And mine is one out of the early shipments.

ENM: Using the point of my paper clip, I press the MODE key to learn and place the 950 3 inches behind the RC2000. I press the sorsorce key then then the key i wish to learn on the marantz, then the corresponding key on the 950. It will light up and ask me to name the key D1 thru D8. I then depress the mode and test it. A long process. Same on ANY key. On volume I identify the source then Hit , say Vol up on the RC2000 then Vol up on the 950. I created some AMp functions on my remote(2000) like TRIM, DD, DTS, CIRS, BYPS, etc. I have been able to learn every command from the 950 except DSS. Yes, the RC2000 will recognise DSS and do all DSS functions. But, it will not learn the double click on the source key. When I had my AV550, you could double touch any source key and it would present it on screen. I can do this on all other components etc DSS. For example: if I am watch Dss and wish to go to DVD, I press DVD twice on the RC2000 and it takes me there. Likewise on the other sources/ CD, LD, Tuner,VCR etc. But not DSS. When I click on DSS twice, nothing appears on the screen, or , more precisely, IT STAYS AT THE SOURCE IM AT. I have no explanation. If Im wtching a DVD and wish to go to DSS, I have to hit OSD (my 950 menu I taught it) , then channel up or down to change the input. I hope I havent confused you more, but, in short, the RC2000 is a great remote and its will learn 99% of everything but it takes a lot of time! Have fun!
