I have a Dynaco ST-70 tube amp connected to my 1050. When I have my CD player connected to the 5.1 front l/r direct connections it is about 8db quieter at the same volume level as when I connect it to CD. Why would the DIRECT mode be this way. I realize direct bypasses the DSP.

I turn the volume to 60 on direct and 40 on CD.

I have the same problem. It is due to the output level of the source device not matching the output level of the 1050's DAC. Some source devices have an output level control and you could adjust it to match the 1050.

I find the 1050's tuner section to be very loud.
