I have a Harmon Kardon receiver with Klipsch Legend speakers. Would the 950 really provide enough sonic improvement for HT and music to justify the purchase. Never had separates before and saw this sire in HT magazine.

Welcome to the forum, Raider. I will offer some of my experience on the upgrade to the 950. I went from the Outlaw 1050 receiver to the 950 (already had a five-channel amp, and I was using the 1050 as a pre/pro), and noticed an immediate improvement for movies and music. In my case, though, I already had the amp(s), so I only had to add the 950. If you are upgrading from a receiver, you'll need an amp as well as the 950, so factor that in to the cost of the upgrade.

Be aware that the current version of the 950 will probably exhibit some hiss through your speakers (i.e., Klipsch in general are really sensitive).

The good news? The 3rd (and hopefully last ) iteration will probably do you just fine. I'd send an email to the customer service email id here, and find out when the 3rd rev will be available. (Scott can probably let you know.)

Other than the hiss on some people's systems, the 950 is a great value for the money.

No matter how great a value something is if it exhibits hiss something is terribly wrong and I know I would not be happy. I will take your advice and contact Scott to see if the hiss has been fixed. I can't understand why anyone would buy a audio product knowing it had hiss problems.

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like I could use the 950 with my HKardon receiver since it has prepro connections. Would I notice much improvement or is the amp the major definer of sound? This hiss problem does bother me as I had to go through three HK units until I got one that worked. The way HK made replacements had me without a receiver for 8 weeks.
