Recently, I noticed that every photo I've seen of the 950 front shows a rather unhelpful input/source label, such as "VIDEO1/COAXIAL1." So I was wondering if you can rename the input/source labels on the 950. Every receiver I have owned allows you to rename these labels, so that you could, for instance, change "VIDEO1" to "VCR." Also, are the input labels of the 950 consistent with the button labels of the reomte?

The 950 does not allow you to rename inputs. The remote does have the Video input labels alongside common devices. For example: the "CBL" button on the remote has "Vid3" above it -- so if you hook your cable box to Video3 you will have no problem. Likewise, Video2 is associated with "TV" and Video1 is associated with "SAT." The DVD, CD, VCR, and tape inputs are fairly straightforward. The "COAXIAL1" bit is the digital input that you assign to the active input; you can assign any of the inputs to any source (or assign the same input to multiple sources if you want, such as using your DVD player for DVD's on the "DVD" input and CD's on the "CD" input).
