I have the 950 and 770
and i have a Philips 962 , all new, put it all together the other night ,with my denon 1500 cdr=player

my denon works fine
the phillips has a POP when you move for trak to trak ,but iam not to sure its the player .
the 950 unlocks then locks at the time of going to, trak to trak
and on top of all this i cant get SACD to play , the[phillips] OSD shows it work but no sound .

I check all the connections, looks good .
so what input mode for the 950 to get the SACD to work ?? thanks for your help

bad99: see pages 10 & 11 of manual: press dvd of the source select buttons (#2)

make sure it's in a multichannel mode (dd, dts, dplII, 5 channel stereo, etc.)

press the aud button (#2, top left button)

press the 6 channel button (#19)

tell me how your 950 does with sacd!

Gotta love the 950 remote. At night this button lights up as "NEXT" for some reason.

I was disappointed,with 2 ch stereo CDs
but SACD i could live with ,
was i blown away[NO} but it does sound better !

CDs are missing something with the 950

bad99: good to hear. next up are: speaker placement and calibration. maybe some of the smart guys who post here (and there are quite a few, fortunately) can chime in and help out.
i didn't think much of it at first, but i did get an spl meter and calibrate my system. i also played with speaker placement and found slight tweaks made big improvement in the soundstage.
also, unfortunately, sacd mixes are very erratic. some really bad, some good and some superb. let me know if you find a disc you think is exceptional, if you find time.
