I have heard rumor that one of the main Outlaws was once one of the main people at NAD.

Is this true or rumor?

If so, what position did they hold at NAD?

I find it kinda interesting if true. I mean the NAD Silver series of HT products was supposed to be released in 98 but didnt get released until 2001, even tho the pieces were at the conventions every year from 98 on.

But mainly I find it interesting because for the dollar, NAD is likely the best deal in mid-fi today. I mean their DVD changer kicks mega ass over competition that costs much more, and has better sound, etc.

It would just be rather interesting to me if true...

Ok, I know somebody here knows for sure, but since nobody has answered I will give you my "heard it a few times but never stuck" answer. I believe Peter Tribeman, the President of Outlaw, used to be the president of NAD and Atlantic Technology. That would explain the relationship with the 950 I think. I could be off on that answer but it's roughly correct.

And I methinks that the physical locations of NAD and Outlaw are very close in proximity too...

Peter used to be at NAD (I think 10+ years ago, but I'm not real sure), and is still involved with Atlantic Technology.

Peter and I talked about this a couple of years ago during the 1050 beta test. So I'm going by memory here, okay?

However, IIRC, Peter was one of the founders of NAD in the 1970s, although I don't recall what his title was. May well have been President. Anyhow, he left NAD sometime between the mid & late 1980s to form Atlantic Technology. I hate to shoot down a good conspiracy theory, but ...

The main thing about his possible involvement in NAD, is that in the world of Hi-Fi, NAD was and is all about getting the most out of your dollar. For 30 years or whatever it is, NAD has been one of the best companies in the Audio industry.

I mean their $300 CD players are just outstandingly bad ass. The DVD changer they have is fucking awesome, and IMHO the best DVD player under $1,000.

NAD had an attitude about the market and providing the consumer with the best sound for the money. They did all they could to live up to it.

So the fact that Outlaws was started by someone that involved in NAD DOES mean something.

Something good.

And, that's where the green button came from!

And the spartan but functional appearance...
