Anyone else anxious? Of course! I'm like you at the moment -- keeping an eye on the Outlaw site and my e-mail for some word on it. I'd expect them to try to ship them during the week of 12/18 (probably early part of the week) to have them in people's hands by Christmas. That means that we should hopefully hear something in the next week or so...

Good man! I've been thinking about asking the Outlaws directly, but kept telling myself asking wouldn't make them ship the 950's any faster. I'm glad you went ahead and asked for us all...

I just got off the phone with a guy at the outlaws and he said we aint seeing delivery to th first week in January. Happy new year to you and how you doing? On a lighter note he did mention to his knowledge the 950 would have 96/24 dts processing. This guy could just be playing yoda or something. Mr. Scott maybe you can enlighten us before we become like an angry mob.

Well, if on 12/5 Scott said we should hear something "in the next few days," then it's been a few days already. It's been five weeks since the last news flash. Hey, I don't expect the thing to ship tomorrow, but I do expect to at least hear why it's not shipping today.

If it doesn't ship soon, then it's not going to make the Christmas "deadline". They've already missed the "well in advance of the holiday season" deadline.

I will help keep this topic at the top also. Hopefully one of the Outlaws will notice it and give us a bit of info. I check the site daily hoping for something new in the latest news section.

Somewhere there was a disconnect in the information you received. The 950 is chock full of new features, but it does not have DTS 96/24.

Thanks for the information, Scott. We appreciate any info you can give us on this thing.

Are you going to rebut the other half of Jeff's message? I really hope he isn't right about the us not seeing it until January part.

Well, we have word now -- I'm assuming that the news item will go up on the Outlaw site later today (while I'm doing a final inspection). If you're not on the mailing list, keep your eye on the site. It's sort of good news: they may be able to ship by Christmas if all the details come together in time.

Good news, yeah, but not as good as I'd hoped.

I've already ordered my speakers... I was thinking they'd take a while to arrive and I didn't want to be stuck with a kickin' pre/pro and amp with no speakers. Now, though, it looks like they're going to arrive later this week (the company acutally had them in stock and shipped them pretty quickly) and I'm going to have a bunch of kickin' speakers with no pre/pro or amp... :-(

I just hope the situation doesn't last for too many weeks. On the other hand, it gives me a little more time to figure out what type of speaker cable to use.

I plan to be waiting for that button at 10:00 the day after tomorrow. :-)

I hope we see some updated photos, final feature list, and maybe even a product manual soon.

Not funny, just sad and frustrating.

Sad because of all the revenue Outlaw lost because of the technical problems. Frustrating for those who have waited and endured the constant delays...

Sorry, can't resist, although I *am* still waiting... (Haven't jumped ship yet.)

=> Good thing Outlaw isn't a public company, or else somebody's head would have rolled by now.

Will pointed out, that the saga actually goes back to March of 2001 or so??

Yes, I first talked to Scott about the 950 in March 2001, and have been waiting ever since. It was supposed to be released in Sept, but I guess I got the year wrong.

I don't think they actually started promising it until maybe October or so... As you can see from these December posts, though, people (including me!) were already extremely anxious about it. It was already by that time months behind schedule. Now those months are turning into years.

I don't think they actually started promising it until maybe October or so... Now those months are turning into years.

While there have been mitigating factors for promises lost, there were a large number of missed dates. Some people waited years, as you say.

In April 2000 the Outlaw Newsletter email said Outlaw will build two separate pre/pro's, one to ship in late spring 2000 and the other to ship in fall 2000.

In November 2000 the Outlaw Newsletter email said they'd ship the two pre/pro's in the first six months of 2001.

In February 2001 the Outlaw Newsletter email said they'd ship the first of the two pre/pro's by June/July 2001.

In July 2001 the Outlaw Newsletter email said the Model 950 would ship by October 2001.

In September 2001 the Outlaw Newsletter email said the Model 950 would ship by Thanksgiving 2001 or earlier.

About a week before Thanksgiving 2001 the Outlaw Newsletter email said the ship date had slipped but Outlaw was nevertheless "committed to volume shipments well in advance of the Holiday Season ... in time for you to welcome Santa with a full 7.1 surround demo on Christmas Eve"

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 2001 the Outlaw Newsletter email said they would not ship (surprise!) by Christmas afterall. But they were fully confident it would ship within 3 weeks.

It didn't ship then either.

(If anything in the above is inaccurate please let me know so I can correct it.)

I posted some of this a while ago. I apologize if repeating it here offends anyone.

In engineering dates sometimes slip. This amount of slippage is pretty gross, honestly, but I'm sure the lost revenue is hurting Outlaw Audio more than anyone. Pretty sure it's not a pre/pro conspiracy.

Pre/Pro's are complex - but I'd think there would be considerable engineering support from Cirrus on this. Dunno.

Will: I see... the July 2001 promise (for October 2001) was the first I was familiar with. I think it's also the first that mentions 950 specifically (as opposed to the vague "we've got two in the pipeline from previous updates) so I'd considered it the first promise of 950 delivery.

Kind of makes you wonder what they were thinking about waaaay back then, that they could finish it in only three more months? Especially when we know now how far from completion it really was (is).
