I picked up a pair of Monitor 11's about a year ago and I love em to death. I had the Monitor 9's and they excelled in a nice fat base, but the 11's were so much more accurate with symphonic works I traded the 9's in.

Check out Willy Nelson's Starlight on the new 20bit remaster CD. I picked it up and holy cow...talk about pin point accuracy!!! A lot of times I'll have to put my ear up to my CC to make certain that it's not getting a signal.

An even more fun disc is DJ. Shadow's Private Press. It's got some absolutly amazing "surround" mixing. It's all in 2 channel, but on many tracks the CD has music recorded 180 degrees out of phase...causing the sound to jump behind you. (Not to mention at times it sounds that music is about 15 feet out of your room....and then it slowly creeps into the room with you). The 11's still leave me astounded with material that should be listened to on a speaker like that.

Happy Listening

Jason

I could not agree more. Since we got the 11's home we have really been pleased. I was trying to decide between them and the Studio 40's. My wife really liked the 11's, so I...uh....went along with that Much to my surprise, they come in Rosewood for no extra cost. That was a huge selling point....these speakers not only sound great, but they are beautiful. But anyway, the sound quality on the 40's was clearly a notch above, but the 11's just seemed more dynamic. I laughed when you said you had to put your ear up to your cc to check for a signal.....my wife thought for SURE it was three channel and she was shocked when I told her it was just the 11's. The soundstage really is both broad and deep, and they image nicely. They sounded pretty good in the showroom, but they sound GREAT at home. We have them paired with an SVS sub, some mini-monitors in the back, and the cc-370 in the middle. The 1050 has done a GREAT job with this system, both as a receiver and as a pre/pro. Thanks for the recommended demo material.....we'll have to check those out
