Has anyone compared the performance of the 950 to the Parasound P/SP1500-P/DD1500 combo? I'm especially interested in the 2 channel stereo bypass mode because I spend a fair amount of time listening to music in 2 channel stereo. I've had the Parasound equipment for 4 years and the units have been solid performers. The P/SP1500 processor is currently connected to an ATI 1505 amp.
I'm upgrading mainly to get PLII and DTS capabilites and also because of the excellent reviews and comments I've been reading regarding the performance of the 950

Funny you should ask that.......that is the combo I switched from! The Bypass mode sounds every bit as good as the Parasound. In fact, the digital input isnt bad either, a little edgier than my Adcom GCD600 CD player, but the DAC's on that puppy are really superb, and have shown up a few higher priced units. One thing Adcom truly got right.
You read about people complaining about the ergonomics of the 950, coming from the Parasound duo, you wont thing so at all.
DD is at least as good, DPLII blows away the THX mode of the Parasound. I am very happy with this unit. Oh, and the video switching is superior to the Parasound also, clearer picture, with less noise.

John C - Thanks for the helpful information. And I know what you mean about the ergonomics of the Parasound combo. Using the 950 will be a dream in comparison.
