Last night I was watching a DVD of "Bones" (a bad movie), using the DTS-ES soundtrack, and experienced several dropouts. Each of the dropouts lasted about 3-5 seconds; after the end of each dropout, the 950 display showed "DTS-ES" for a few seconds, and then went back to displaying "DTS"

I am going to be doing a few tests to see if this happens on other DVDs, but wanted to post to see if other people have experienced this too. I'll report back once my tests are done.

What's your DVD player?

So far, using a Toshiba SD-1200 DVD player and Pioneer Elite Laserdisc player and the coaxial digital connections I haven't experienced any dropouts except for those discs with poorly encoded layer changes (why they can't all be authored like Superbit discs with no layer change pause is beyond me). Knock on plastic.

I'm using a PC as the DVD player (PowerDVD 3.0 on a Win2kProSP2 system, w. an nForce mobo doing SPDIF out). I doubt the problem originates with the PC, since it is just passing the DTS through, and has had no trouble with DD passthrough, and from the DVD playing perspective, passing DTS should be no different from passing DD.

I have the exact same problem with DTS but not just DTS-ES.

I am using a Panasonic RP-91 player.
