Is it possible to use the 1050 only as an amplifier and use a seperate preamp? The preamp is a sonic frontiers line 1. I'm waiting for my 2-chan amp to arrive (another 2 wks), so in the meanwhile I wanted to use the 1050.

Thanks in advance.

You might enjoy this thread regarding using an existing receiver as an amp for a Model 950.

In several previous discussions along these lines, the general opinion has been that it is feasible, although (obviously) hardly optimal. You would need to find a volume setting to leave the receiver at. You will also definitely want to use the 6-channel analog input (which will bypass the A-D conversion and DSP).

Thanks Gonk. I tried it via the 5.1 direct mode on the 1050 and the result was not very good. I guess I'll use the 1050 until the amp comes in.

Thanks
