I have a ULD Series II Sub and I am wondering if it will be compatible with the 1050. The instruction manual says to hook it up between the amp and the preamp but I was wondering if anyone knew a work around or should I only consider the 950/770 combo?

The ULD subs appeared to be powered (at least the bit of info I found on them suggested as much), so I would expect it to be fairly straightforward to use it with a 1050. I could be wrong (not familiar with the sub and couldn't find a manual for it online), but it's possible that the manual was written for use with two-channel systems or Pro-Logic systems that didn't have an LFE output. The Velodyne site indicates that they were discontinued in '97, at which time Dolby Digital was still pretty new on the scene. If that is the case, you could just connect the ULD to the LFE output as described in the 1050's manual and be ready to go.

Gonk, thanks for your reply. I think that you are correct about it being pre 5.1. The back of the unit allows a L & R input and L & R output. I guess that I could connect both the L & R input to the LFE out and see if that will work.

I am using the ULD 15 S2 w/ my 1050. I got a splitter for the LFE and put it into the left and right inputs. Everything works great. The subwoofer is heavy compared to the rest of my components (axiom m22's etc.) and I keep the gain b/n 10 and 20 on the subwoofer to balance everything out.

Hope it all worked out!

Matt
