Any reason why the LFM-1 doesn't have a balance input connection? The 990 offers a balanced sub output. Why the disconnect?

The LFM-1 was released back in late 2003, over two years before the 990 came along. Personally, I can't see replacing or revising the LFM-1 just for that one connection.
