I need to ship my LFM1 and I'm concerned about packing it properly, especially whether it should ride top down or bottom down. Does anyone remember how it was packed?

It sounds like you did as the manual says and kept the original packaging. It's been a while (about 18 months) since I unpacked mine, so I can't recall exactly how the sub fits into its packaging. Would a few visual aids help?

Feet, power cord, and manual go together in a little box with some styrofoam. (Scissors not included.)

Sub goes in the t-shirt with the opening at the bottom (or the top, if the sub's upside down).

Sub does into smaller box with the top up. I don't recall, but I think the box from step one is under the sub at this point.

Small box into big box . I think there was a piece of foam or something that went on top of the inner box, but it had apparently been tossed aside.

Outer box is closed and cat added to hold box shut. (Cat not included.)

Box is delivered to gonk\'s back door. (This step is optional, but highly recommended for optimal performance of sub in gonk's den.) wink

Oh, and I'll bet that if you need a little help somebody at Outlaw could talk you through it.

Gonk, you're the man; Steve sent me a comment about how good your post is. Ya' gotta' love that Outlaw customer support. Superb customer support, a great forum, cheap prices and Stereophile named the 950 "Budget Product of The Year". It just doesn't get any better!

By the way Gonk, I read through some of your equipment reviews for the umpteenth time and noticed your review of the Oppo. I'm planning on purchasing an Oppo for my new bedroom system and wanted to get your thoughts on that player now. I'll be using the DVI output into a plasma display. Also Oppo released a new firmware update on 10/18/05.

Yeah, I've really enjoyed the Oppo. I installed the firmware update Tuesday afternoon but haven't had a chance to mess with the new menu options much yet (although I did remember to switch the DVI output back to 1080i).
