Of course if the LFM-1 has a driver/cabinet combination that is more efficient than another subwoofer, then using less power could still produce as much useful acoustic output. The question isn't about the rating of the power amplifier, but about useful sound level output before a certain level of distortion is reached, either from driver excursion that is nearing its limit or from an amplifier nearing its limit. Tuning the SVS enclosure via port plugging may extend the low end, but cuts into the efficiency of the system as a whole and makes the output less linear. What is the rated acoustic output of each without tuning? How much will the output of the SVS be reduced by tuning to 20Hz or 16Hz? Best to do some research before making a decision.
