Hello all! I'm considering buying a 1050 to use as a pre/pro for my family room home theater to drive a 3 channel set of Antique Sound Labs Wave AV-20 tube amps. Does anyone see any problems or have experienced any problems driving tube amps with the 1050??

Thanks in advance!

Eric

I don't see why not. I use tube amps with the 950, and no problems at all. I don't see how the 1050 should be any different in this respect.

What type of amps are you using? Are they used in an HT setup?

I have several, and they are used for everything, including HT. The mains use an Audio Research D-76 (modified) for the low frequency drivers, and a Cary SE-1 single ended triode (300Bs) for the tweeters. These are fed by an electronic crossover I designed and built myself. The side surrounds use Dynaco MK IIIs, and the rear surrounds use a Dynaco Stereo 70. The center uses a vintage McIntosh MC240 stereo amp with one channel driving the woofers and the other, the tweeters through an electronic crossover. Lots 'o glow, lots 'o heat but incredible sound

Great System!!! Makes me jealous! =)

I have a friend that is going to laser etch a sign for me on lucite that will be bottom lit that says: "Vacuum Tube Theater", and also has the DD, DPL, DTS logos around it that is going to sit on top of the rack when I get my system done. So I'll have the lit red sign, and 5 tube amps driving my speakers, it should be a fairly interesting look when the lights go down and the movie starts! =)

Thanks!

Very cool idea for a sign! I impressed my wife-to-be by showing her all those lit-up tubes in my darkened theater. The wine helped too. Things got nasty
