Reading all these post regarding 7100 noise and hum makes me want to get an ATI, or Adcom. True, all amplifiers are voltage generating devices, but they are not all created equal. Factors such as low-to-zero noise, great power supplies, slew rate and damping factor are more important than power output, or price. Has anyone out there had a 7100 that does not hum? I may, or may not go with Outlaw. Please convert me.

I've got a 755 and 2-200's... and they're absolutely silent... I think from the people that have had hum from their amps it was a power problem... so nothing with the amp itself....

Just a clarification: do you mean noise from the amplifier or noise from the speakers?

Good point. If the AC coming into the home is clean and only one ground rod is used and even a line conditioner is used, it seems no EMI, or RFI would be present in a real application. I cannot knock an Outlaw, because I have not tried an Outlaw, I just see their posts. I am sure even a Rowland, McIntosh, or Krell would amplify a 60 cycle hum if it were there. I am just in this forum to verify others experience with noise and a Outlaw, before I start buying them. Thanks in adnvance for any insight.

ANY noise, EMI, (electromagnetic), RFI, (radio),or the speakers, or the 7100 itself.

The Only noise I notice on mine is a slight hum coming from the amp itself (occassionally not constant). If the music, movie, etc. are on and you don't actually have your ear on the amp itself you can't hear it.

Dave

P.S. I don't have any power filtration.

I have a 7100 & 2-200's and haven't noticed amp or speaker noise from either. I'd have to give both products an A+ in all departments. They sound great and so far are completely trouble free.

I appreciate the reply. That goes to show most noise is not in the amp, but either a external source, the AC line, or a ground issue.

hometheaterguy_co,
there are gadgets you can buy to solve the hum problem at a relatively small cost. Even so, by going with Outlaw, you are still getting a better product per your dollar than ATI or Adcom amps.
