I assume you're talking about looping the trigger through the collector of the transistor, which then completes the circuit to ground. My guess is that the trigger input of the amp is a high impedance, and if there is a relay in there somewhere, it is first driven by a transistor. I would ask Outlaw about this however, as I'm just making an educated (or uneducated) guess on how they're implementing the trigger circuit.
