Hey everyone. I recently started using Direct TV. The problem I have is that my 1050 remote will only change the channel down, not up. I've tried all the codes listed to no avail. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I have an RCA box btw.

Actually, I have the exact same setup and problem. I didn't bother trying to fix it yet. I think therew were some generic codes to try (found on remotecentral or some such place) but never went back to it. I just use the box remote. How lazy is that?

You can check the advanced codes at HI-FI Remote they have advanced codes for the RCA Satellite box. They list 0392 and 0566 for the RCA and they both have advanced code listed as 051 for Channel- and 043 for Channel+

To program an advanced code you can follow these instructions taken from this manual .
1) PRESS the device, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), button - RELEASE
2) PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
3) PRESS 9 - 9 - 4.
4) PRESS the SETUP button and then the three digit advanced code.
5) PRESS the button you wish to use for that function - Two Blinks.

Don't worry you can return the button to it's original setting by doing the following to clear out your override (also from the manual above).
1) PRESS the device, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), button - RELEASE
2) PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
3) PRESS 9 - 9 - 4
4) PRESS the button you want to clear twice. - Two blinks.

Anyone have experience controlling Pace cable boxes with the remote. I used to have Direct TV but my new place has too many trees. I have looked around and don't see any documentation regarding Pace. I have never heard of them (new company??), so any help would be appreciated.

You may be out of luck with this box. Check out this page regarding pace boxes. It does say that newer boxes don't have this problem however I could not find any codes either.

I checked my model number and it's not one of the model types listed, plus my remotes looks almost identical to the Scientific Atlanta remote I had when I was with Time Warner before so maybe there is still hope.

On the plus side the digital out signal works all the time - on my S.A. box it would only work for certain stations at certain times. I would end up leaving it on analog except for movies... so now I am much happier.
